Controversial Arsenal views

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think Gilberto was overated....thought Edu was a much better player and we should have tried much harder to keep him.

Graham always dropped my favourite players: as well as Davis he underused then got rid of Limpar and Rocky
yet I still loved him because (like Wenger) he's Arsenal and had delivered trophies as well as mistakes

I liked Hleb, couldn't get the ball off him in a phone box
I think our fans are to blame for losing Kevin Campbell who could have been a great squad player for years
Wenger should have refused to let Wrighty go - if he had been sub striker in '99 instead of Diawara we would have won either the FA cup or the league
Cygan was not totally crap (I remember an amazing big game performance away at 'Boro in particular)
Isn't that the problem? 1 game, seriously :?

Me too  I felt he did a good job defensively, but was a pathetic passer. None of his passes seem to reach their target.

I think Adebayor is a quality striker and we've missed what he brought to the table since his departure (Chamakh was signed as his replacement and he's not fit to lace his boots).

dunno if Cygan really got a run or formed partnerships in defence
he gets lumped in with Stepanovs, Tavlaridis, Silvestre and Squillaci who had about 5 good minutes between them

when he wants it and works he's good
his 30 goal season was 50% Cesc + Hleb provided tap ins + deserves a 30* goals (* 6 v Derby) footnote
he never understood the offside rule and because of this once he stops working he's a liability

Indeed a quick perusal of some of their "celebrity" fans will confirm the epic levels of c***dom amongst their fanbase;

A fair point - don't get me wrong, they have a huge amount of c***s following them.

But I've never had any reason to hate them in my personal experience.

my controversial Arsenal view -
I don't think our defence is that bad
I like Szcz and think he will iron out the mistakes
Sagna is the best RB in the league, Kos and Verm are brilliant and are building an understanding, Santos and Gibbs are a worry but I can see one of them stepping up
Mertesacker was a good signing and is a good organiser, Djourou was rubbish at RB but can play CB, Miquel and Bartley are good prospects

take out ManUre and Blackburns 12 goals against us early last season and our stats are comparable to most of our rivals
