pre season games match thread.

Eisfeld looked good when he came on, right wing doesn't look like his natural position so I think hes a great prospect. Ox showed the positive energy he always does and diaby didn't get injured! Chamakh and Santos simply stated again that they are below the standard of player required to challenge for trophies

Lastly how much of an excuse is a lack of fitness ? I mean these guys are pro athletes who are weighed and given a training regime to follow during the summer so can their fitness really drop off that much ?
yes. and i think it does.

maybe not with our lot so much, but there's been a lot of pics of the chavs and various other England failures boozing it up this summer. as we all know, boozing leads to late night munchies and carb frenzies the next day....

i'm pissed off with the clubs attitude to Pod & Giroud - the fitness and physicality of the English game is way above Europe's. if they are to start with all cylinders firing then these guys should be with the squad.

oh and this another area where we could learn from US sports teams on fitness - pre-camps with fitness tests. if you don't pass, you train with the reserves/injured list until you do.

On the game , it was a run out and no more...points from it were that Gervinho is muck, Bartley is muck and Song is lazy..Ryo has a bit of energy and is positive, Theo is Theo . Ox has a great attitude, Yearrnis had a decent game and Eisfeld done more in 10 minutes than many done in their 45 minute stint.
Give the lad a chance ffs.

But to Wenger's eyes they are the real supporters because they always believe Arsenal are going to win.

I'll never forget Wenger almost bragging when relaying the story of him berating a gooner he happened to meet, who had the audacity to say to 'Mr Knows' that he didn't think we'd be good enough to win the title that year without adding more quality. Wenger claimed the guy couldn't be a true Arsenal fan for believing that!!   That was the day I finally realised what a fecking arrogant and ignorant man he can be!! Someone who is dismissive of others views and concerns because he believes he is always right. He was wrong then and has continually been proven wrong in all the subsequent years. :banghead:

You may be a retarded drug abusing weirdo ( ), Hlebby - but I agree 100% with that. 8)

The fucking arrogance to state that someone (that probably has supported the club all their life) is not a true supporter because they happen to have an opinion of their own? I think that day was probably one of the final nails for me too.

I watched the game and have about the same amount of enthusiasm for the season ahead as Chamakh displayed. I long for the days when new signings actually played in pre-season and we tonked teams not scraping wins.
Arsenal should arrange a pre season game against fleetwood so they can play at Highbury again.

I totally agree - before commercial considerations, pre-season games used to be a confidence builder for the forwards to get their shooting boots on against weak opposition in exchange for raising a big gate for them. when we used to tonk barnet etc 8-2 we'd go into the season flying.

i can't see that these games do much for confidence, and fitness should be addressed on the training ground anyway.

this is another area where we should return to our roots.

The club love harking back to the past in other ways, like "themed shirts" so why not have friendlies against clubs we have links to like Fleetwood with Highbury. The Herbert Chapman match against Huddersfield a few years ago was a good laugh as well.

the PLC loves making money. helping out lower league clubs and boosting team morale is not on the balance sheet.

gay purple shirts are though. :cussing: :censored: :cussing:

talking of pre-season games, it was good to see the chavs lose to the MLS last night. TH14 had a good game too. his record this year is mental - 14 games, 10 goals and half a dozen assists.

if he could do half that for us .....
