how does +/- work in ice hockey? surely would be slightly arbitary
Songs floaty over the shoulder through ball stats were much better with RVP on the end of them than they would have been with Song...

Song had a lot of assists last year but he also gave away many goals when either losing possession, passing straight to the opposition or giving away free kicks in very dangerous areas. The bottom line is, he is a liability and he's taking up the 'defensive midfield' slot and is not performing the role. We would be far better off with a player who has discipline who plays in the def. midfield role and just plays short passes to the other, more capable midfielders, or, play him as an attacking midfielder (the role he obviously prefers) and get a proper def. midfielder!
Song could be a good player for a smaller team, but he's not consistent enough as a regular for a top team.

he is naturally stupid unfortunately, and ths has no discipline. if he had the brain of a makele or viera hed be decent enogh as he has the physical attributes. anyone who sae him vs fulham years back and his lack of effort summed hi up. his improved to average but thats it.

Finally got to watch the 2nd half of the cologne game last night - song got brought on at half time and one minute and 28 seconds into the second half he gave away his usual cheap ridiculous free kick by tripping and pulling down a player that was going nowhere  People can debate the merits of this guy all they want but when I see him described as good in the tackle then I basically ignore the rest of that persons post

Believe it or not, that was the highlight of his performance!!   And yet some mug has written an article on the main page claiming Song had a good game!!  :banghead: :banghead: Too many football fans know feck all about the game they profess to love and follow.

+/- works where you get a + if you are on the ice when a team score and a - if you are on the ice where a team conceed a goal so it would have to work differently for football due to lack of rolling lines and shifts in football (average ice hockey player would only spend around 20 minutes on the ice per 60 minute match).

But if players were give a + for an assist where they are one of the last 3 players to touch the ball before scoring and a - for the opposite it would make interesting reading.

LOL readin that Barca already offered 15m but we are trying to get 20m! If they gave us 15m for him it would be ROBBERY on our part, and may make up a LITTLE bit of the robbery they got away with for Fabregas.

PLEASE LET IT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Yeah! that's why Barca want him, cos he's fukking shite  After all what would their coaching, scouting and management team know? they've won fuck all. :banghead:
I have never met a fan of another club, heard a tv pundit nor read an article by a football journalist, say that Song was anyhting other than a top midfielder who is crucial to Arsenal.
So I would have to suggest that it is the Song critics on here, who know "feck all about the game they profess to love and follow". Either that or they are so blinded by prejudice that they not only talk, but also see through their fukking arses.
Song is only 24 and coming to the peak of his career, Barca obviously see that, and I for one will be fukking gutted if we lose him to the Barca whores.

I think the problem with Song is that he is a decent midfielder but we are top-heavy with decent midfielders. We need him to do a specific job in the Arsenal team and he singularly fails to do it. Despite also being a p/t centre-half he lacks the discipline to play a proper defensive role.

He does concede stupid fouls on a regular basis and his positive contributions are outweighed by his flaws, because he doesn't (isn't asked?) to play a proper holding role.

He'll probably be a good player for someone else.

he's been a good player for us - kept us in the top 4
I agree 100% with sid - he's just become a scapegoat on here
he could end up being a great player for somebody else...

he is one of our better performers,

But i'm ok with selling only if we replace him, i've heard ridicolous things like the coq replacing him ( like calls for denilson replacing flamini) and arteta there. Imagine going into to next season with wilshere, Arteta and carzola in midfield, they'll get the **** kicked out of them.

So are you saying that because of that, Barca don't and have never made a mistake in the transfer market?  Using that kind of argument one would think you'd be a big supporter of Wenger rather than the constant critic you've always been. After all, he signed so many great players, therefore he must know better more than anyone else on here - including you!! :rubchin: Don't you remember Wenger saying that he gets to see Denilson in training every day and that he's 'world class'?

Listen up matey, I know about Song because I get to see his sloppy performances week in and week out - unlike the so called 'experts' and fans of other clubs who catch 10 minute highlights on Match of the Day, if that!! :banghead:  Now maybe you, like them, can get excited about the odd great pass or goal assist or even tackle, but as someone who has been watching the guy - and was initially hopeful of Song developing into a good enough player but have found myself disappointed by his progress - I've seen more than enough of him not to be blinded by what's in front of my very eyes. I get to also see the misplaced passes; the wrong choice passes; the immobility of the guy; the countless miss-timed tackles and attempted tackles; the lackadaisical way he strolls around the pitch; the irresponsible way he abandons his position and all the other things that you don't pick up from watching the highlights or the odd live game on tv!!

Now I know you've always been a fan, but what suddenly makes you believe that most of us on here are wrong and people like Wenger and the press are suddenly right? Perhaps the person being 'blinded by prejudice' is in fact you and not his critics? :rubchin:

Surely if we sell song we are weaker? Or do we contractually have to sell a player to barca every year?
