Sagna next to go???

The "only one boss" line is all well and good in regular jobs but a players career is a short one and I don't see why they should be expected to sacrifice that for a club and manager who seem to sacrificed any intention of winning trophies again  Maybe, and I am just putting that out there, but maybe the players are as pissed off as the rest of us with the fact that wenger is unchallenged by people at the club ? Or maybe he is pissed off with the people above wenger who are supporting a policy of asset stripping (clearly I am not referring to song here  ) without reinvesting the money ?

Btw sagna with 2 broken legs is far more deserving of a new contract than bedtner, almunia and Demi son were when they got their's a couple of years ago and more deserving than djouru was when he got his earlier this year
I agree with you.

Plsayers like Sagna are not stupid and however much we can debate whether RvPs statement was a betrayal the fact is what he said in it was 100% true. In many ways the current policy at the club is worse for the players (in terms of trophies) because they only have a limited time. Supporters have 60 odd years if they live long enough.

''We just have to be a little bit patient'', as the great men at the club tell us  Every fcuking year! :banghead:

If he has genuine concerns the press is not the place for it. There can only be one boss at a club and that is the Manager. Like him or not he has to keep control of the dressing room and he was dead right to answer Sagna the way he has imo.

As regards the contract I fail to understand how we would be offering Sagna a contract now until we see how he returns from his leg break.

I disagree Augie.

Firstly re Sagna's contract. I never stated he didn't deserve one. I stated he has had 2 broken legs and it would be prudent to see how he comes back before giving him one. If he was given a new 5 year contract now and was not able to perform to the standards he was before the same people would be lashing Wenger for giving him a new contract. Who is to say it is not just a smoke screen to get himself a better contract ?

Maybe the players are pissed off with lack of success and trophies, I don't know. There is nothing in their contract that stipulates that they are entitled to any trophy. They signed it and are earning good money, and it is not their remit to take issue publicly with any of the managers decisions. The manager should not be questioned publicly in this way and I think Wenger was completely correct to take him to task on this.

Nobody is saying that players are entitled to win trophies but surely they are entitled to expect their club to be committed to challenging for trophies and that is impossible as long as we continue down this road

Who says we won't compete for trophies going down this road ?

Either way that's not the issue. Players coming out and questioning the club that pays his wages is wrong and I'm glad Wenger has told him so.

I want Sagna to stay big time. He is a quality player and I still dont believe in jenks. Hope this situation can be sorted out and I also dont blame him for his comments. Regardless of our good start we have become a selling club and that will only lead to failure.
