As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Even though we've been picking up points it's been more like torture than enjoyment watching us cling on for dear life against West Brom, QPR and Stoke and put in dire performances where we look like we're all over the opposition but really aren't creating anything like Norwich. I just wonder which of the two Tuesday will fall into?
2-2,we'll start like a train go 2nil up, they'll get rousing halftime team talk we'll get halftime episode of Mr Bean. They'll score 2 early goals in the 2nd half, we'll cling on but ultimately we'll both be disappointed with the result. It'll relegate them and effectively relegate us to Europe's 2nd tier.
Asked this before and got no answer, are we in the group stages from the off, of the Europa or are we in some BS qualifying group ?

If only but they've not been celebrating have they......the league still means more to them
I can't believe that there was so much questioning of which would mean more to the players... and from ex-players too!
With all due respect to the Wigan squad opportunities for players of that calibre to win trophies like the FA Cup will come along once or twice in a career if they're very lucky. When they retire would they rather have an FA Cup win on the CV or would they rather be able to boast that they just about stayed in the PL above Norwich one season?
It's not like they're stuck with the club like the fans are.
Scum is up for it this year and things are absolutely going for them (Bale, Donkey scoring, red cards and late goals). Either we win next 2 games or no wan*er trophy.

Spurs didn't have to play a qualifier - I think Liverpool did instead. If we did finish 5th we'd go straight into groups I guess and Wigan would play a qualifier (unless them winning the cup rather than being runners-up changes it?).

If it was any team other than Spurs would anyone seriously give a fuck.
Not much longer before we're on the Little Club Charter
It's got nothing to do with little club charter...starting to sound a little like the not so dearly departed shabba-rabba.
I don't give 2 flyings about the champions league anymore....think I gave up after the 20mins of the 2nd leg of the semi against Utd a few years back.
BUT, a very big but is that no one on here wants to finish behind your local rivals because it could be the start of the changing of the guard.
Who the f**k around here wants to be classed with the spammers' as 3rd tier London team. Back in the late 80's early 90s, the scum didn't think they would be looking up at us for 17yrs. Once a decline starts it's very difficult toget out of it. Look at us and challenging for honours.
Sadly it looks like it'll end next sunday, but if you think it makes us small time to not want to finish below the scum then your perspective is completely different from most on here.
One season in the no-hoper league will hopefully hit the money men hard enough to make them invest properly.....doubt it though.

It is Spurs though. The whole why do people actually care/they wouldn't otherwise doesn't really stack up.
And as you've admitted yourself realistically Wenger is going to be our manager next season and beyond if he wants regardless of whether we finish 4th or 5th. So obviously I'd much rather finish above Spurs, and yes I'll admit I'd rather be in CL than EL - even if we have no real chance of winning it I wouldn't get the same smug satisfaction from having to watch us play FC Civil War on a Thursday night and us playing Sunday afternoon nearly every week as you seem to think you'd get.
Really wanting us to finish above those wankers and not play in the EL next season doesn't necessarily equate with wanking yourself into a coma about the VT being the Holy Grail or being a diehard Wenger apologist.

A simple a very selfish reason steveO......... if we finish 5th nothing will change except we will have a hell of a lot of Sunday games, and as well as the public transport problems on a Sunday my boys tournaments are played on that day too.
Even though we are shit at the moment I still enjoy going but prefer Saturdays to Sundays..... simples.
Sunderland win puts the Saints right in Wigan's firing line. All they'd need is a win and and draw. Saints have got the rugby team at the Dell so shouldn't be a problem.
If Sunderland don't win, they're pretty much fooked as their last game is the scum at the swamp....
I think Sunderland will go down on the last day......
Beeb website saying Mancini is being sacked...no big suprise their after yesterday's non-perfomance.....no offence to Wigan but if the big players for Shitty had turned up, they'd have won even with Mancini's bizarre sustitutions. He's been hanging around Benitez too long.
