Re: Everton FA Cup
Can't we swap managers! - let the toffeee's have Inspector Clueless and we'll take Martinez.

Re: Everton FA Cup
were Man City and Liverpool away our last 2 early kick offs? Maybe I'm just being superstitious but I wish the game was at 3pm. When did we last do well in an early game?
Re: Everton FA Cup
Fulham away in the second game of the season. I don't recall us playing early at home on a Saturday all seasonSam59 wrote:were Man City and Liverpool away our last 2 early kick offs? Maybe I'm just being superstitious but I wish the game was at 3pm. When did we last do well in an early game?

Re: Everton FA Cup
Managed to wangle a club level freebie for this, THE biggest game of the season by far. FFS - please win and give us at least one big day at Wembley to look forward to

Re: Everton FA Cup
I really, really want us to win this one as for me the F.A Cup is the only competition I believe we can win this year. The Premier League collapse looks on the cards again and bar a miracle, a successful CL campaign looks to be a pipedream.
Everton have been tough opponents for many this year, including us when they held us to a 1-1 draw in December. Martinez is doing a great job for Everton this year and a victory for them is very much a possibility, and you can bet he will pull out all of the stops to progress to the Semi-final.
Everything regarding Arsenal must be spot-on. The manager has to set the team up just right and the players must be fired up, yet in the zone, for this game is now the most important in our campaign to end the 8 year trophy drought. We can't afford any slip-ups or tactical negligence of which we have seen too much. We also cannot squander any chances we may get.
To many, this game may not look special at all. To an Arsenal fan, this means the world. This is now the game that decides whether we want to move onwards and upwards from the last 8 years, or whether we just "celebrate" capturing 4th place in May. Again. A loss this weekend, then for me this season is just like the last few, which is now getting tiring.

Re: Everton FA Cup
Perception is a funny old thing but it will be a big thing here -
If he plays flaps on saturday, will it be seen as sacrificing the cup or will it be seen as giving flaps game time to sharpen him up for the bayern game next week ? Logically he should play chesney because it is a huge game and we should play our strongest available 11, plus chesney is suspended for bayern next week so it should be a no brainer - that being said I cant help feeling that wenker will continue his policy of giving the fa cup games to flaps and try to disguise that reasoning by suggesting that he wants to give the guy a game before the bayern game
Personally I think that anything less than playing chesney in goals will be confirmation that he is putting the bayern game above the everton game but doubtless the akb will argue otherwise

Playing Fabianski in this game would be madness purely because if he picked up an injury, we'd have good old Viv in goal for the Bayern game, and we need someone more reliable than him when we are 3-1 up and clinging on for dear life.

Re: Everton FA Cup
it is not the goalkeeper that worries me - both Chesney and Fabianski are playing ok at the moment.
however we MUST play our strongest back 4 - Kos, Mert, Sagna and Gibbs. anything less than that and Wenger is showing that he is focusing more on Bayern (and that is a sackable offence IMO)

I'd play Fabianski. The risk associated to a goalkeeper being injured is pretty low, in my opinion. Plus, we're out of the CL anyway, so what does it really matter? If anything, Everton is the more important game, so Fabianski should be playing anyway.mcdowell42 wrote:Spot on ,but you just know tht is something that he is very likely going to do,play flappy and then hope he doesnt get injured.remigardeshair wrote:Playing Fabianski in this game would be madness purely because if he picked up an injury, we'd have good old Viv in goal for the Bayern game, and we need someone more reliable than him when we are 3-1 up and clinging on for dear life.

If Everton is the more important game then surely we should be playing our first choice goalkeeperVoiceOfReason wrote:I'd play Fabianski. Agreed, and this is exactly the sort of game where he will pick Monreal, and possibly Jenkinson too.Gunner Rob wrote:it is not the goalkeeper that worries me - both Chesney and Fabianski are playing ok at the moment.

Kos is doubtful so we might have no choice but to bring Tommy V in.
At least we can't rotate the CBs any further, we don't have any
