New contracts: BFG, Rosicky, Ramsey, Cazorla, Zelalem

Sagna is done, too slow and past it unfortunately. Won't be gutted to see him leave.

Now the issue I have is why Ramsey was offered a bumper new deal after a 4 month spell where although he played brilliantly it's conveniently ignored how utterly shite he was for 2 years prior to that. Not surprised at Wenger still rewarding players that have not proven their worth.
Are you outside your fucking mind? That is a laughable post.
How exactly? Do you actually pay attention when watching this team because if you did you would see how he is a shadow of the player he used to be after the double leg breaks. He's lost a yard of pace and STILL can't cross worth a shit or beat his man. He's a defensive liability who gets skinned time and time again against pacey wingers, it's time to get over this romantic nostalgia induced image of him and move the fuck on. There are better RB's out there.

My point on Ramsey is valid.

This is my concern also. The amount of players that have signed bumper deals after a little purple patch is worrying. many of them regressing shortly after with us having the inability to move them on due to undeserved high wages.

Name them then - it's easy to say that there are better out there but the reality is, for me anyway, that only zabaleta is as good as sagna. Unlike scotgooner, I want a full back that can defend first and foremost and that rules out players like dani alves who are attackers more than defenders, and I have doubts about coleman defensively if I'm honest.

Tbh I get fed up with people slating sagna based on his crossing cos it is only in wenkers fcuked up tactical scheme is a right back meant to be a right winger and right back at the one time - in other teams full backs are expected to provide support to the wingers getting forward but we don't play wingers and the players that are meant to be on the wings drift centrally (to their more natural positions) so our full backs are expected to do everything

I guess you're talking about Premier League RBs only?

If you mean throughout Europe/world, it's perhaps worth pointing out (even on my limited knowledge of world football) that Sagna doesn't even get in the French team these days (I don't think) with that PSG chap getting the nod, so he's not even France's best RB, never mind the rest of Europe/world.

Not saying we could get that PSG guy to replace Sagna like, but it does suggest there's others out there.

Maybe even someone who can cross a ball! :o :o :o :o

(do love Sagna though - sort of defender I like, and will be sad to see him go . He'll be a huge miss I reckon :( )

hmm... yes, Sagna does seem to get linked with PSG quite a lot :rubchin:

Anyway, I reckon Flamini can do a job there for us!

PSG's first choice right back is van der Wiel who is Dutch. Debuchy of NUFC has been the starting French right back recently - decent option to replace Sagna if he goes but don't he's as solid as Bac.

If Sagna leaves there is no certainty we would replace him with a player who is predominantly a right-back...Lauren and Eboue could be considered midfielders too.

My preference would be to buy a top right-back, but to keep Sagna as well.
He can play there at times when the other is injured/ill/suspended/tired, and Sagna can play to a respectable level at centre-back too.
Looks as if Vermaelen will leave, and we are without proven cover at centre-back.

Sagna is an experienced pro whose presence in training can only help Jenkinson and Toral develop.
Jenkinson still has a way to go to improve, so having him as cover learning his trade for another two seasons is no bad thing.
I also believe that Sagna would make a decent go of playing next to Ramsey in central midfield should he ever be needed there in an emergency.

I do think though Augie that a right-back who can cross has to be useful, people liked to knock Dixon but he was a consistent accurate crosser as well as being a good defender.

Correct. Debuchy is now France's first choice RB. I think we could do better than Sagna if I'm honest, providing we are ambitious.

WTF he renewed Rosicky's contract is a mystery to me as he's too old and gives the ball away far too often!

it's called 'buying players loyalty'.........Wonga has done it for years, only problem is, he does it with the less talented players and lets the best ones go!! :banghead: :banghead:
