Re: Tickets for Wembley
This has to be it, but yet I am terrified at the thoughts of it all. We CAN fuck this up on a grand scale in a way only Arsenal can. As desperately as I want the FA Cup win , winning it alone does not vindicate our manager. Only a league title or Champions League can do that. I am not being ungrateful but an FA Cup would be good to shut the media up and I would love it to see red and white (or yellow and blue) ribbons on the Cup. Funny thing is if we win it it will be described as only the FA Cup by some media scum. In 2005 they described our win as "scant consolation" where as the two wins that sandwiched ours Manyoo in 04 and Victims 06 were hailed as fantastic achievements.
Also i was as happy as anyone to see Wigan win yesterday but there is little logic in saying it is easy for us now that City are gone. Wigan are a footballing side that went to City knowing how to upset them. We do not have that in our team/management. if we do not win with plan A we can only hope to get lucky.

Re: Tickets for Wembley
I am more confident than in previous seasons because of our defence.
if we play our first choice defence then I just can't see how Wigan, Hull or Sheffield can score enough goals to beat us.
we are less prone to the sloppy goal conceded this season and have only let in a lot of goals to the really top quality sides that are all now out.

There must be some old buggers here who remember us getting rolled over by Swindon too ? Herd - are you out there buddy? The Knowing One wrote:That pretty harsh clockender, my brother done Leeds, Swindon, Leeds, Ipswich, West Ham then finally broke his Wembley duck vs Liverpool in 87clockender1 wrote:In my years of following The Arsenal, I've seen us lose to Ipswich, West Ham, Luton, Real Zaragoza, Liverpool, Galatasary and Barcelona.SteveO 35 wrote:In my years of following the Gooners I've seen us beat Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesday (when they were a top half PL side) in domestic finals

So with Wigan, Hull and Sheffield United left I'm hoping that for fucking once we beat this shite out of sight.....but not counting my chickens
7 finals, no wins. 8 if you count when I had a ticket for Sheff Wed in 1993, and spent 36 hours at Guernsey Airport due to fog.
The End....
How's your record regarding Semi Finals though

Would Herd or someone remember us being rolled over by Cardiff at Wembley
My Dad remebered many 1930s matches but didnt quite remember the final v Cardiff, the rose tinted specs were not able to be removed for that one

I've been present for the losing finals of all three types of European final, 4 if you count the Super Cup

Pretty good, about 50/50. but - i have never seen The Arsenal lose a home FA Cup game as far as I can remember. I just checked back to 86 - i started going in '78 age 8 - and that is true back to to 86..The Knowing One wrote:That pretty harsh clockender, my brother done Leeds, Swindon, Leeds, Ipswich, West Ham then finally broke his Wembley duck vs Liverpool in 87clockender1 wrote: In my years of following The Arsenal, I've seen us lose to Ipswich, West Ham, Luton, Real Zaragoza, Liverpool, Galatasary and Barcelona.

it seems that 95% of our FA Cup losses have been away, home midweek replay, semi's at neutral grounds or Wembley, or finals :

Re: Tickets for Wembley
For the last semi-final my vague recollection is that season ticket holders were told to register their interest for tickets and all who did so were guaranteed seats. I'm not sure if the remainder was by ballot or away credits.

For the last semi-final my recollection was arriving at Wembley on the South Wales Supporters Coach at about half 10 and then nothing until coming back to sufficient sobriety to see our beloved Flappy gift Chelsea the victory.

Re: Tickets for Wembley
Yeah I just found some info for the Chelsea semi and basically Away scheme members and those ST holders with 3+ away points were guaranteed a ticket as long as they registered in the allocated time.Simon wrote:For the last semi-final my vague recollection is that season ticket holders were told to register their interest for tickets and all who did so were guaranteed seats. Then those with 2 or less away points also had to register their interest between certain times. Everyone that did that in 2009 ended up with a ticket.
No idea if they will do it the same way this year

mate. I feel for you. But At least we scored in all of those finals - imho nothing worse than going to a final and not even seeing your team score so you can jump up and downremigardeshair wrote: That's terrible![]()

Unfortunately mate I have to call fake on that Liverpool home end ticket - since when did Liverpool fans bother with tickets?clockender1 wrote:mate. I feel for you. same as us in those days mate - standing tickets were pay on the door or advance ticket sales by post.
that was the princely sum of four pounds plus 65p p&p to my student digs in Manchester, which is why i couldn't queue up at Highbury to get a ticket in our end before a game, because they went on open sale on a Tuesday Night.
I think i'm right in saying that in those days only ST holders could apply for Away league tickets by post ?

I was in the South Wales supporters club

I used to pick the coach up at Bristol.
