I really really dont give a shit where our players come from as long as they are good enough to play for The Arsenal but I really hoped that the recent departures was a sign of a new policy with wenger that he was going to phase out the african players so that the anc tournament would no longer have any great effect on us. It now appears that every 2nd player we are being linked with is african and while there may be no truth in some of them you cannot help but worry that yet again in jan we will lose 3 or 4 players to this competition

I'm with you on this thought, which is a shame to a degree, but that would take both Chamakh and Kalou out of question.
I'd take Kalou. He has expressed his admiration for Arsenal in the past, and while some may knock his Chel$ki showings, he has never had too much of a chance. Behind Drogba, Anelka, Shevchenko in the past, and arguably Ballack too, you can't expect miracles. When he has played though, (early Champions League games, weaker League sides) he does seem to grab goals, and that is most important.
A big positive is the lack of adjustment to the Premier League.
Negatives:
- He's African
- He's Ivorian, gives an excuse to keep our other Ivorian.
- He's similar in stature to what we have already up front apart from Bendtner. Might make us a bit one-dimensional?
Would only take for 8 million or less. No point lining the already full Russian pockets with our hard earned Ade money. (And it was hard earned, look what we had to put up with!)
As previously mentioned by a few people, we don't really need another forward player, let alone someone going to ANC. in which case, even if 6-8mill isn't that much for a forward it's 6-8mill that we don't need to spend, so sorry, it's a big fat NO from me. now, if we can get chelski to throw in essien, thats an african whose more then welcome!

Top post, I couldn't agree more, for the reasons you state above and for the fact he makes barndoor and Bendtner look prolific I would treat his signing as further indication that our managers time is well and truly up.

I'd agree with the ANC part but my question is whether both RVP and Eduardo can stay (relatively) injury free. My quess is they won't be.
Which leaves as with a forward line of Walcott, Bendtner & Arshavin. (AW's Words)
NO, he is shit. i've always thought kalou is shit, his finishing is poor and he is not that quick. he would not add quality to the squad, in my opinion.

damn, we do not need offensive players!
That is it then end of discussion!
It is amazing that he has not only bluffed Chelsea but also Arsene into believeing that he has any talent!
that's the point, he did bluff chelski into thinking he had loads of talent, thats why he's ended up being nowhere near their 1st choice. what he does have however, is pace and potential which we all know wenger positively drools over, even if that potential still hasn't been realised over last 3yrs.
there are definately worse players out there but that doesn't make him any better. if it's pessimistic for people to judge him on his poor form for chelski, surely it's incredibly optimistic to hope that because wenger has had a couple of successes then kalou will be another one?

No he was not their first choice because he was behind proven and very good talents in Drogba and Anelka.
So are we saying if Eduardo is on the bench a lot this year as Van Persie is the main man that we should sell Eddie, he must have bluffed us?
I like him. As others have said he has bags of potential, is reasonably quick, and good in the air. AW will never buy a David Villa or Fabiano type player because of the price tag and ego. He will always look for youngsters with prospects to add balance to the side. AA was the only exception and even that appeared to be a hardship! Would prefer him to the Moroccan as he has the Prem knowledge and is already settled, and we could afford to let him go to the ANC at that price. Would love an Eboue swap deal though
