As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Had a great first few years at Dortmund but every year his best players leave, management of contracts is very poor (Sahin and Lewandowski both leaving on a free), poor injury record (Gundogan, Bender & Hummels have missed most of the season) and absolutely miles off the pace last season and this (admittedly to a great Bayern team).
Ok they put in a great performance in the first leg against Madrid last year (let's not forget they almost blew it in the second leg) but overall his Champions League record isn't great - out in the Group stage in 11/12 and can't see them getting past the quarters this time.
Not convinced by van Basten - what's he ever done as a manager? and not sure about Löw either; no record at a major club and hasn't actually won anything at international level, although he does play good football.
I'm not saying there isn't a better manager out there, just not convinced by these options.
Are you having a laff ?? You are comparing klopps achievements with wenkers ? Are you comparing klopps resources to wenkers too ? Are you comparing the statures of both clubs ? Dortmund sell cos they have to (gotze buy out clause & lewandowski on a bosman) where as we sell cos we aint got the balls to stand up to players like the little lesbo and rvp Let me also remind you that continental clubs work differently than english clubs - in mainland europe managers dont have control of contracts, transfer offers etc but in AFC we allow le cock total control on all matters football and (some that are not ) so if players contracts are not in order then the blame lies above klopp
Let's get some perspective here Barnetgooner: Dortmund were on the verge of bankruptcy in '04 and had to be bailed out by, of all institutions, FC Bayern. They have to sell because as good as the German model is, Bayern have as much financial clout as all other Bundesliga teams combined.
Schalke, Hamburg & Stuttgart are big teams but are run by bloody imbeciles that haven't a clue so for Klopp & Dortmund to have had the success they have had is remarkable.
I'd definitely take Klopp with no questions asked, however I still feel we'll try for Martinez if Wenger does get the chop or decides to walk though, and all things considered he'd be the 'safest' option.

I actually believe a decent manager with some savvy and a bit of passion might have won something with the current squad,or even 3 or 4 years ago's squad,it wasn't a bad squad just poorly trained and motivated by Wenger, personally I'd love to see Klopp come, but I cant see him leaving Germany for London,

Yes they were close bankrupcy and Klopp did a great job bringing them back to the top. They are now making a profit though so I'd dispute they 'have to' sell any more than we do.
If Simeone manages to break the Barca / Real duopoly then that will stand out as one of the finest achievements in modern football and I would imagine he would have the pick of almost any top job in the world, from Real, Barca to the next national coach of Argentina. Would be an interesting one but not sure we'd be on his radar
Klopp would be an interesting one. Dortmund were one of the most exciting teams I've seen in years and he would be a popular choice with me
I'll hold my hands up and admit Martinez is doing a far better job than I expected. I had him down as a smalltime loser with flicks and tricks but he's got Everton looking highly impressive this season. What I will say is that he inherited a very strong back line left behind by Moyes - Baines & Coleman are probably the best full back partnership in the league, and Jagielka has been a stalwart. When he has to replace them with his own, it will be a sign of his ability as his choice of defenders at Wigan was poor and the keeper, Joel, he brought over with him looks absolutely shite
Of all the 3 mentoned above, I think our small time owner & CEO would plump for Martinez - the nice guy, and known commodity in England rather than a more aggressive and progressive guy from La Liga or the Bundesliga
Of course, we'll probably end with the King of 7th place in the J League - super Dragan Stojkovic, the envy of super clubs around the world

Yes I think their achievements in their first 5-6 years in the job are comparable. Got a great team together on a small budget playing good football with innovative tactics. Yes Wenger has lost it since then but until Klopp has successfully built a second great team and won something with it, I don't think you can say his record's any better.
As I said just above, Dortmund now make a profit, are the second biggest club in Germany and have a revenue not far off ours. Klopp deserves credit for helping build that stature but so does Wenger for contributing to Arsenal's current financial stature.
Disagree that Dortmund 'have to' sell any more than we do. RvP and Lewandowski very similar situations, just we preferred to get some money for him rather than lose on a free (not defending that decision by the way).
You may be right about Klopp not being heavily involved in contracts so if he came surely we'd need a top quality director of footbalal too?

Lots of rumours in Man Utd fanzines that Simeone will replace Moyes in the summer - really hope not.

Fanzine rumours...
If you believed fanzine rumours then we'd be currently managed by Tony Adams with Dennis Bergkamp putting the cones out and Kalou and Joe Cole both starting against Citeh on Saturday!

But if we had the wenker of the first 5-6 seasons we wouldnt be looking for a new manager Compare klopp to what wenker has become and then tell me whether he would be an upgrade on the senile old french c*nt
Secondly, wenker took over a team where half of them had won 2 league medals and it also included the best player ever to play for the club (Bergkamp) and vastly experienced platt - it is a lot easier to get a great team together when you only need to add 3 or 4 pieces to it.

Us on the other hand, might make a good step up to the Reals, Barcas, Bayerns etc.
win % at Racing was pathetic btw - 40%, but only 2 games lost out of 20. Athletico is 65%.
looks like David Villa was a good deal eh Arsene ?
He was there for half a season, hardly enough time to have a real impact. He was also managing racing.
My only worry about him is that he hasn't stayed anywhere long enough except Atletico to accurately judge his performance. If he can be as good for us as he's been for Atletico, sign him up the moment Wenger's car leaves the garage.
