Because Tim Payton works in Sports media / communication for a living, (with the ECB I believe) so he understands the way it all works, has some good contacts, and has massive experience in that field - can cut through the BS on AFC press releases etc and has a good financial brain to understand the AFC monetary statements etc. He can put his points across well (many, many press appearances illustrate this).

People don't like him, because he is the figurehead, and we are still finishing 4th. He is just a BIT of a twat though, so that may be part of the reason too.

I'm surprised Tim hasn't had to sign up to this forum to defend himself against lies and inaccuracies just like I had to, and Tim Stillman, and Arseblogger, etc ; who else have I missed?

I think, in fairness, they have all at some stage signed up to defend themselves on here. And they are all welcome to do so.

People dont like/appreciate him because he has alligned to the board and doesnt come out and criticise them and wenker like most fans do and for me I find it nigh on impossible to trust somebody that chooses that path because it means either (a) they have a cosy relationship with the power brokers within the club and dont want to shake that or (b) cannot see the problems with the way the club is being run and believe me both options are scary

Tim Payton has given plenty of criticism to the board and manager over the last year, he is hugely critical of both now and makes many valid points - but perhaps as he is not seen as 'ANGRY GOONER SLATES BOARD' his comments don't catch the eye.
