Could get messy.
In all fairness they should have been.
It's the rules but it's a bit churlish of the others to only get animated about it now they are f**ked. It's a bit like Warnock's sour grapes a few seasons ago. Fulham and Cardiff didn't get relegate because of one S.Korean player's regn not being done properly. They got relegated because they have been frankly sh*t. Not helped by 5 managerial changes between them in just one season.
If they had a problem with it they should have kicked up a fuss when it happened.

Yeah this isn't really on the same scale as the Tevez case. He was the difference in West Ham staying up that year, without a doubt. There was also a huge question mark over the legitimacy of signing him during his entire time there, West Ham basically flouted the rules and the PL bottled it. As much as I dislike Warnock if it was the other way round I think they might have acted differently.
An admin oversight that has had no real impact on the table or any of the clubs, a fairly substantial fine suffices. Not really like they need to send out a message/deterrent.
I caught the end of the Championship season yesterday, watched the last 20 minutes of Forest v Brighton. I know their season has crumbled horrifically and they had nothing to play for but Forest were an absolute fucking disgrace. There was absolutely zero effort on the part of their players and as soon as Brighton started pressing hard they gave up completely. Superb cross from Mackail-Smith for the late goal to squeeze into the play-offs though, great drama.
Would have loved to see Birmingham go down to League Fun but Bolton. 94th fucking minute

According to ALL of the journo's on sunday supplement this morning, docking teams is NOT in the rules for the premier league and these rules were decided and voted on by the clubs themselves. In the football league there is points deductions but not in prem league

They will get away with it because he was always a Mackem, the problem was registering him back after a loan. No international clearance rules have been broken so the "Gang of Three" are shit out of luck.
It is a bit fishy how the PL just wanted it to go away, probably because they only found out after the Mackem's told them of the error.

Yep, this. He just didn't have the international clearance (because of a technical fault with an on-line form) and we were the ones who brought it to the PLs attention when we noticed our error. The Premier League rules state:
"Any Club found to have played an ineligible Player in a match shall have any points gained from that match deducted from its record and have levied upon it a fine. The Company may vary this decision in respect of the points gained only in circumstances where the ineligibility is due to the failure to obtain an International Transfer Certificate or where the ineligibility is related to the Player's status only. The Board may also order that such match be replayed on such terms as are decided by the Board which may also levy penalty points against the Club in default."
So basically the most they can do is take away any points we won in the 4 matches that Ji played, which is one (a draw at Southampton) but since it was because of an international transfer certificate issue, they are perfectly entitled to only issue a fine. So yes, the "gang of three" can fuck off. If Arsenal avoid defeat to Norwich on the last day of the season then we will finish at least 2 clear of the relegation zone, so the 1 point won't have made a difference.
The prem and FA have always been a bit dodgy when it comes to sorting out wrangles between top flight clubs, but if there are no points deduction involved, then oversight or not then the gang of bitter 3 can jog the f**k on.

The PL are always reticent to act when it comes to things like this. To be honest it's going to be incredibly difficult for them to justify docking points for something like this having let West Ham off.
Similarly with this Palace-Cardiff spying thing, it's plain as day that they are desperate to sweep it under the carpet but Cardiff were so persistent with their moaning and what appears to be fairly concrete evidence that their hand has been forced and they're going to have to go through the rigmarole of a full investigation before issuing their token fines to the club and a few individuals.
Seems it was a poor error but no more than that, it wasn't a Tevez situation of a few years back. Remember the third party ownership, join United but play against them in the last game of the season away after they win Premier League, score the only goal that keeps the offending club in the Premier League..
