Ok I'm hearing some news with regards to FA CUP SEMI - it will be played 5.20pm on Saturday 18th April
a source within TV production who spoke to someone on the plane back from Monaco
Do the broadcasters really want it to clash with chelsea vs united?
this must be the issue - ridiculous though that the Premier League were allowed to schedule a game at that time when they would know full well it would clash with the FA Cup semi final.
the FA Cup seems to being marginalised more than ever this season - told by UEFA not to have replays clashing with their stupid Champions League and now this bullying from the Premier League.
Someone apparently rang up the BBC and BT and they said not until after Liverpool v Blackburn replay. That would be a shambolic decision
That thread is almost as tedious as my quest to get a semi final ticket. At least we keep it short and to the point on here. With the exception or errr the wenger thread .
just read a bit of that thread - I can see now why there is a delay - the BBC probably want the Villa v Liverpool semi final BUT are concerned that they might be left with Villa v Blackburn. This is where the Liverpool v Blackburn relay date is ridiculous.
I can also see a scenario where if BT show Arsenal v Reading for example they are forced to show it at 12.45pm because of the Chelsea v Man United Saturday evening match.
Things were a lot simpler back in the 80s when they just played both matches at the same time of 3pm on the Saturday afternoon

Yes so much easier..one semi highlights on Match of the Day and one on ITV (the Big Match?) on the following day... glued to BBC Radio 2 to listen to games..78 and 79 we were not commentary match so it was just updates..Peter Jones saying things like "there has been a goal in the other semi final..we will go there shortly" Those minutes waiting were agonising, especially in Ireland as the radio coverage could go off at any time. The young fans today haven't a clue .
things were a lot easier for European competitions too back then - they were ALL played on Tuesday/ Wednesday nights and these were in the days when we actually did well in them too! so there could be about half a dozen top games being played at the same time. Don't remember any live tv coverage either - all on the radio until the finals

Paul Vassen's goal V Juventus was live on radio only because the Nottingham Fores'st European Cup semi final had finished a few minutes earlier as far as I can remember, they went straight to Turin for the closing minutes. It is no exaggeration to say at that time Peter Jones as commentator on BBC 2 could paint pictures with his commentary.
I know so many "fans" now that would never listen to the radio even for results. If it is not instant on the screen they are not bothered. Finals were the only live European games on TV.
The BBC can get fucked, they've turned into ITV over the FA Cup, moving games to Fridays and Mondays, always picking Premier League ties, all to chase ratings which I always thought the BBC didn't need to do as a non-commercial channel?!

For an away game that is not on TV, I much prefer listening to the match on the radio instead of hunkered over a laptop watching a stream that is buffering or being removed very 5 minutes.
Probably because I remember listening to most of the 88/89 season matches on Capital Gold. Good times.
I seem to remember that before Capital Gold our European games were in BBC Radio London I'm sure the show used to be called ''Gunners in Europe'' I remember taking a radio into school and listening in class with a single ear peace. (like below)
this is annoying.
since there are not going to be enough tickets unlike last year I won't be able to go.
the pubs round where i live will most probably be showing the Chelsea/United game so I am going to have to get up in the pubs near the Emirates to watch this
