Wenger fails to win by two goals, yet manages to blag his way into the next round regardless.
I thought we definitely had to win by two clear goals, so how do we go through if we win 3-2 does it go to goal diff then? I haven't looked at the table.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe that if we win 3-2, we match Olympiakos's result at the Emirates - thus cancelling it out - and we then go through as we have a better goal difference overall.

I think the two-goal margin is to eliminate a 1-0 win for us (which ties our two games with them at 3-3, but with them scoring three away compared to our one); and to eliminate a 2-1 win for us (which ties our two games with them at 4-4, but with them still having scored more away goals).

I need a lie down.

No you're right, a 3-2 win to us will take us through, I just looked it up. I think that gives us a better chance of qualifying. :barscarf: :barscarf:

I always fucking regret not going on the matchday itself.

Even though we know the script and how it will play out tonight. Well actually I don't think it'll even get close enough to get the drama, I think we'll score 2 goals at most and Olimpiacos will definitely get past our statistically-good-but-actually-quite-vulnerable-defence.

Cech's made about 4 or 5 great saves in the last 2 games alone otherwise our GA tally would be a fair bit higher than 13.

Don't think they will do it, that defence has mistakes in it and vey likely to concede

That said would love them to get through, in spite of Wenger, Gazadis and Krone, and all the other money grabbing corporate slags who have taken our game away from us

Prediction 2-2, last minute miss of an open goal from Ramsey :o

I'm quite looking forward to a Thursday 6pm kick off in February against FC Midtjylland :D
(yes that is a real team and yes they are about to qualify for the next round of the Europa league)

I hope Rodders' neighbours are taking similar precautions to mine. I've warned them all of a flood that will make Cumbria look like a ripple if we win by two clear goals and secure a last 16 pasting in February !

Wolfsberg showed last night the perils that olympiakos will face tonight - in the second half, with the home team 2-1 up, they started to drift further and further back towards their own area in a bid to hold what they have. Of course they invited manure onto them by doing this, and they then conceded (as is normally the way when you sit deep). Tonight olympiakos will get caught between finishing us off and trying not to suffer anything worse than a 1-0 defeat, and by doing so they will invite us onto them and we will grab the goals we need and they will be unable to turn it around as momentum will be with us

A 3-1 victory for the Gooners 8)

i suppose one way of looking at it considering we need a 2-0 win is that if we pull it off then it will be like Anfield 89 for the AKB generation

Wenger wont stop this week referring to his supposed great record in the CL. This great record is getting out of the group stage which usually means not being good enough to win the group, but being less mediocre than two other teams who shouldn't be in the competition in the first place. No mention of the fact that we have been knocked out in the last 16, 5 years in a row. At this stage success is what Wenger thinks it is, and although I want us to win tonight, I wont be overly disappointed to see Wenger fail.
