Re: Champions League Draw

I laughed when I heard we drew Barca. It was fucking nailed on.

Even UEFA are colluding to ensure we have another Groundhog Season. Play Dortmund/Bayern - Check. Matchday 6 at Olympiakos - Check. Finish second in group - Check. Knocked by Barcelona/Bayern after having faint hope in one of the legs - Check.

It is sad to see that most of us have given up hope of ever getting near the semis again, let alone the final, but history has told us what to expect and that is the Eighteen Successive Failure to Win the Be All and End All Trophy. I just hope that luck favours us in the FA Cup.

It would be nice to be interested in this competition, but alas...

We will lose. Hardly surprising. However, Santi won't be in the team, so immediately that means slightly more protection (emphasis on slightly).

I expect that we will sit deep in both matches. We have some pace to cause them some problems. We will score goals, but still probably lose on aggregate 5-2 or 6-3.

We will have the proof.
It makes the celebrations after the "heroics" of Athens even more ridiculous. Celebrating the opportunity to get nailed with no lube

The fact most fans are excited to watch Messi, Neymar, Rakitic, Suarez...whilst being perfectly accepting of the absolute hammering the club is going to take isn't lost on me. It's similar to the reaction Dagenham would give if they drew us in the FA Cup: go out, enjoy the game/day out.

The perverted thing in all this of course, is that Arsenal fans pay far more to watch their team than Barca fans do...whilst being perfectly accepting of the fact they'll never be anywhere near the same league. Farcical.

Oh for an "easy draw" like last year

Perfect draw! This Champs League tournament has been exactly what we needed.
Made last 16 thereby avoiding Europa but still getting good coin - tick
Drawing Barca so we get knocked straight out instead of wasting a few more games and testing our depth further - tick
Back to focusing on the League and less stress on our thin ranks whilst our major league competitors are balancing their squads - tick

I don't see anything but positives about dropping out early from a competition we have zero chance of winning overall.

Now if someone could just challenge the Giants that are Leicester......WTF!!

The forwards Barcelona has will be very easily neutralised by a determined Arsenal

The delusion in our fanbase is just surreal. Almost as ridiculous as Oxlade-Chamberlain's haircut

That said I absolutely detest Barca - not the football they play, but the blatant Uefa favouritism, arrogant fans and cheating shite-bags like Busquets. Really hope we turn them over more than any other team

I hope we do sit deep against them, but can see us losing by the amount you mention.

The first leg comes directly before the annual tummy tickle at Old Trafford and there's also a trip to the Shitole to come before the 2nd leg, followed up swiftly by Everton away....so no doubt the annual Feb / March collapse will take shape nicely then and see us drop to 4th in what would have been billed as a 2 horse race early in the new year.

But never fear, hope springs eternal because we still have games against Watford, Sunderland, Villa, Norwich, the usually 'on holiday' Hammers and Palace....so the glorious sprint to the line to secure the Be All and End All dream will still ensure we get to spend the whole Summer gleefully rubbing our trousers as TO1AW will look to add 'super quality' over the Summer before declaring how difficult it is to do business when there's an international tournament on

This is so how it'll pan out :( depressingly accurate. I also notice that both legs come directly after Fa cup ties (if we should get as far as round 5 and the quarters) so if were still in watch le bumhole fanny around with team selection in the cup we can win in pursuit of the trophy we cant win.
