While not revealing who the front runners were, agent David Giess told Soccernet: "Football is the most important thing to Joe and continuing to play in the Champions League is high on his priorities."
But Giess played down reports linking him with a move to AC Milan, revealing that it was "pure press speculation" and admitting that a move abroad was unlikely.
Cole is available on a free transfer after his contract with Chelsea expired on June 30 and he has been heavily linked with Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United - although United are believed to have withdrawn their interest.
With Manchester City unable to provide the level of football Cole craves, north London appears to be his most likely destination.
Joe Cole is a greedy chav *word censored*!!!!!

More fool him if he wants CL action. Not that I think he is an essential signing for our squad i'd still have him at a drop of the hat. He's experienced, a fighter, English, good at his game and likes spending time on the phsyios bench - we get a lot of thatBoomer wrote:I'm lead to believe a lot of his family are sp*ds so wouldn't suprise me.norfbankN16 wrote:He'd be a fucking idiot if he went to that shithole at the laneVince wrote:http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... 39&cc=5739Joe Cole staying in England - agent

Not sure where you go that from, pretty sure him and his brothers and Dad etc are all Chelsea. Regardless I don't think that really matters.I'm lead to believe a lot of his family are sp*ds so wouldn't suprise me.
Going to spurs would clearly be a risk for him, say the didn't win the qualifier then what? Plus Spurs are not guranteed to qualify consitantly for the competition. And before anyone says we're not, I'ld be very suprised if we fell out of the Top 4 this year

Then again she's Arsenal and it would surprise me to find others are as well.
I'd always say Arsenal but then its difficult to be neutral. Still I'd like to think that years being top 4, always in the CL would swing it.
Then again they've got 'Arry.

In truth that could be a point, he maybe off to England if Capello sacked.
I'd like to see him join but then again not a essential signing.
Why? They have a board who spend money, an ambitious manager and they are on the up. We however have a board who spend fuck all, a stubborn twat as a manager who will never admit to being wrong and we are going backwards, cant keep hold of our best players etc. If you were a neutral then at this moment in time the **** look a better bet than usnorfbankN16 wrote:He'd be a fucking idiot if he went to that shithole at the laneVince wrote:http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... 39&cc=5739Joe Cole staying in England - agent

Why do people keep saying Joe Cole is not an 'essential signing'?
Yes he has been injured for a year but when he is fit he by far Englands best player and is the most naturally gifted player this country has had since Gazza.
So i'm sorry but I DO see him as an essential signing and at 28 he should be just hitting his peak.
Plus, more than anything else.....he is free!

Do not ever mention rosicky in the same breath as walcott.projoe wrote:agree, and far better than what we have at the moment, i.e walcott & rosickyjaymitch81 wrote:Why do people keep saying Joe Cole is not an 'essential signing'?

Rosicky is one of the most technically able players i've ever seen, especially before he came to Arsenal, where his ball control and technique was unbelievable. He can never ever be compared to Walcott who can't even control and run with a ball.
Just a shame that TR7 has been hampered by injuries as he's a world class player.

If he did go to the Spuds just wait for all the Gooners to come out and say he has only gone there for the money and we never wanted him anyway and we got Walcott
.Losing Cole to the Spuds would be a real kick in the teeth for us and a real sign of the lack of ambition at the club when we even cant sign a player on a free transfer
