The most significant non-event by far was the failure to sign a striker and so we enter the busiest part of the season having to play RvP in every single match in order to have any hope and praying that he doesn't get injured. So, I think of all the cuts that the Self Harmer has made this one is by far the deepest.
We sold our most creative players in the Summer and our brightest talent was injured as far back as July. There have been ample opportunities in both windows to sign a Goetze type talent.
Maryanne the non-scoring Camel, a man so poor that a Morocco side eliminated by Gabon dropped him, and Super Quality Park are the sole striking options that we have in reserve come the end of February.
The defence is still looking like a patchwork quilt, has players without the physical attributes to cope with the PL demands and consist of players who are constantly "two maybe three weeks away"
In a nutshell, this is the worst Arsenal squad since the mid-90s for all of those reasons. We can all see it, the media can see it, ex-players and management can see it.
If RvP gets injured there is no excuse for the collapse that follows. It isn't 'special circumstances', as it is more likely to happen at some point rather than not. My bet is that it happens pre-Milan and we go into the last sixteen round of the CL with Maryanne or SQ as a lone striker in the San Siro.
I hope everyone remembers this window together with the shambolic Summer when they start to have those goldfish brain thoughts in April and May (as per the last four seasons) where "this time he'll sort it out", "there'll be a clearout", "we'll bring in more experienced players" etc etc
He didn't do any of that the last umpteen times and he hasn't done it again despite now having a squad, that RvP apart, is no better than Newcastle United's.
Oh well, Arsene knows. I hope his life becomes as fucking miserable as sin between now and May
Steve O, an excellent post as always and I have to be honest and say that as of now I am 95% certain that I will not be renewing my season tickets next season if wenger remains at the helm
In previous transfer windows we have all been sceptical/pessimistic about our chances of investing in proper quality but at the same time I still held out some hope.......this time I held out zero hope

Being a footie junkie that I am I usually enjoy the deadline day hooplah on sky even though I know it is more hype than substance but yesterday I only checked in on it every so often to see if any of our rivals strengthened and sadly newcastle, everton and sunderland (our new rivals

) did all strengthen.
There is absolutely no excuses for the mismanagement that is so rife within our club. People talk about a lack of finances in comparison to other clubs but ignore those that are a lot worse off than us financially and are still outspending us

Just look at some of the the recruiting we have done in the past 2 seasons alone - jens, henry, jenkinson, shitatchi, chamakh, park and some unknown from dortmund are not going to lift this club up to the pinnacle of english football (or even london football

) and are certainly not a justification of the dearest prices in world football

There is no accountability for the shit performances of the board, the manager or the players and when all are not performing to the required levels at the same time then it is only to be expected that we are in the shit that we now find ourselves.
Where we go from here might be influenced somewhat by the fans - react with outrage and maybe the people in power might get a wake up call. Stop renewing and it might shake the board up enough to question the players and managers performances and make changes. Be vocal in your frustrations at the matches and it might tell wenger that he no longer has the support of the fans and it is time to go. However adapt the attitude of the berk near me at the manure game who was outraged at Gooners holding up banners to get rid of wenger, kroenke and gazidas simply cos the media would see it and laugh at us, then you should just sit back and watch the terminal decline of our club and watch the media and opposition fans just laugh at us and wengers touchline behaviour
Oliver Holt suggested on sunday supplement last sunday that we are unrealistic and that we have overacheived in the last 15 years and I have two words to say to him.......FCUK OFF

We are The Arsenal, one of the flag bearers in english football for almost a century and we expect and deserve much more than we are now being asked to accept
