I was a HUGE Sabbath fan - and so when Ozzy left - i followed what he did...remember hearing Crazy Train on the radio for the first time Rock with Melody and Class...blew me away...I've got both albums and yes, I remember the Tragic News of RR's death all due to that Utter *word censored* randy hughes (pilot)...he (Randy Rhoads) was well on his to dethroning VH ....I play guitar but don't have the skills to play what he does....the look on Ozzy's face in that (lost) solo....I saw them play on the Blizzard of Ozz tour (in Edinburgh) and a few years later on the Diary of a Madman Tour in Detroit....a wild night was had by every single mother fuycker there...Sarzo and Aldridge were one tight rhythm unit....A crowd of (I think) about 16,000 and everyone left exhausted and in seventh heaven...I gave my T-shirt from that gig to my son a few years ago.DB10GOONER wrote:OneBardGooner wrote:

The man, the legend, the ultimate Guitar God.![]()
RR introduced a whole new style to metal guitar playing. Died tragically young because a coked-up pilot thought it'd be funny to fuck around in a plane.![]()
You should listen to his stuff, OBG. He only recorded two studio albums with Osbourne before his death but they are gems. I spent months learning his songs, learning the scales and modes he used. He was a genius.
Have a listen to "Diary of a Madman". The classical guitar parts are so atmospheric. Brilliant playing;

Just read him on wiki. Say's the pilot was the tour bus driver Andrew Aycock, OBG.![]()
I can't imagine anything worse than dying on a flight when you are terrified of air travel.
I have a mate in Belgium and he has a half share in a light aircraft. I agreed to go up with him one day. At the hangar he casually lifted the nose of the craft up and walked it down to where we were due to taxi. Light as fuck. We went up for about 45 mins, it was heart in mouth stuff when we landed.
Just last year he took it out again, and as he touched down a gust of wind made one wing clip the ground. He somersaulted and cartwheeled and cannot remember a thing about it. He was lucky to survive it as he was saturated in fuel. He needed hip replacements.
His missus made him give that hobby up.
