To do what - babysit the full back? I know that there is a tendency to defend Podolski and then as soon as he grabs a goal or two talk him up, and I don't think that he is a world class player or the answer to our attacking problems. But it's fucking absurd how much complaining I hear about his defensive work.

He had a poor game on Saturday as he did against Wigan. But whilst it doesn't completely excuse the level of his performance, remember how fucking sterile we were in possession and how awful Giroud was. Podolski is best when he's on the ball in and around the area - not playing wing-back, not with chalk on his boots and not having to drop deep/infield to get it. He's just a square peg in a round hole.

And I'm wondering what the kid (about 7 or 8) in front of me has been like in school today. I went to the Newcastle final about the same day and I was proud as punch for weeks afterwards, not to mention buzzing. But if he repeats even a tiny fraction of the colourful and frankly disgraceful language that I used during that 3 hour window on Saturday he'll be expelled.

That sounds like a lot of fun. You have to enjoy these moments.

I think Aaron was caught up in the frustrations towards the management of the club and the manager. Individually he was struggling with form, and the two coincided unfortunately.

Watching Aaron I think it was away at Portsmouth running the show in what was it? 2009/2010, through the leg break and rehab to 4 years later, a winning goal in the FA Cup final is pure delight.

Since Cesc left he has been my favourite player and I hope he finishes his career with us.
It's great to see the british contingent winning together, and I hope it's a core that will stay with us for a long time.

LOL didnt criticize him for his defensive work but while we are on topic a winger today has to be able to def duties, hence why Morinho flogged Mata off to UTD. If a winger wont/cant then he better be lightning fast and great going forward. Podolski is good at neither. He is slow and not as skillfull as you would think he would be. All he's got in his locker is his finishing other than that he is average. If he were not German he would be getting a lot more criticism.

This season has been like the last for Podolski- he doesn't do enough and then at the end of the season when the pressures off he gets a couple. There is no consistency.

Clear him off and get Griezman.

Get your point, but thought maybe this wasn't the best example to use. Is it possible that Mata would have been the difference for Chelsea in games like Sunderland, Norwich and Palace towards the end of the season. Selling Mata when they did looked like a good bit of business for Chelsea at the time, but possibly cost them the title :rubchin: ?

Incidentally when was the last time that we scored directly from a free kick, scratching my head, cant remember one this season, remember a fair few embarrasments. :rubchin:

Also wondering who would have taken our pens had it gone to that- Arteta Giroud Rambo then who? Wilshere Kos TR7?

I think it was Podolski's against Southampton back in 2012 - at least that's the last one I can recall.

RE penalty takers:

Arteta, Giroud, Ramsey, Rosicky, Sagna would be my guess.

Sagna was due to be our fifth taker against Wigan in the semi's had Cazorla missed, he also took a nice penalty against Roma in the CL back in 09' - apparently he practices them frequently in training.

Not too unusual, if you remember Lauren was another RB who often took spot kicks for us.

What I like most about that pic of She-Ra and Captain LesbianBeard is the fact they very obviously didn't plan it too well and ran out of space near the end, resulting in them having to abbreviate the word "years" to "y'r's".

Pair of r't'r'ds.

I think Wally is getting a bit carried away.

“This is definitely the stepping stone that’s going to build us into an absolutely dominant Arsenal team, I’m pretty sure of that."
Calm down Wally, it's the same trophy Wigan, and Portsmouth won not so long ago.

We are not even in the ballpark of dominant, even with 2 or 3 additions the problem lies deeper than that, and he does say 'absolutely dominant' so thats not all but the top 4.
Also, show us the dominance, don't just talk about, rather than talking tosh to the press he would be better off using his time off studying Sterling's style of play this season
He may see that pace + an end product, rather than just pace might help us to get closer to his vision.

Our last direct no deflections free kick goal that I can remember was Judas against Sunderland in the 07/08 season. All the others we've scored since have usually been with deflections.

We are notoriously bad at them, which surprises me as Arteta was brilliant at them whilst at Everton.

Good as Sterling has been in 3months of football, like Barkley let's wait till next season after Defenders have worked him out and Suarez no longer occupies the other defenders as he will be in La liga. Walcott provides more than we give him credit for in goals and assists. No offence but I'd rather Walcott learnt from a player that doesn't use his girlfriend as a punchbag.

I agree with your other points though.

I bought a ticket from a tout that was in the Hull end, lower tier. 8)
Trust me, there was a huge amount of Arsenal who got tickets in the Hull end.

So, Dr Hull, a question for you, did your box office actually take note of what tickets were sold to which members? I've heard that it was a shambles and you were just giving them out with no records, and people queing up twice etc.

If I though they could trace it I would send it off to Wembley just to see what happens.
