Why is it poor lefty ? :? Wenker is getting the majority of the blame (rightly imo) and part of that reason is because he himself has constantly said that there is money available so the focus naturally focuses on the man who refuses to spend it. On the other hand if the funds are not there (despite overwhelming evidence in the club accounts), then why has mr integrity said that there is money available ?

One thing I noticed when having a laugh at the plastics on Red Cafe was that while many of them wanted Moyes gone they managed to express that opinion without calling him a *word censored* or a silly name. Wankpiece Wenger, really? At least make it witty

Moyes has been there 6 months, give them 6 years of abject failure like we've had and see what they call him then. Of course he won't be there for 6 years unless he delivers success, there's only one club in the world that rewards failure

The King of the Emirates is doing my head in this year, more than other years. Tbh I don't think we can generally compete over a long, hard season with the sheiks and the oil looters, as they have ridiculous squads. Or Bayern, and their mind blowing commercial income. But this year we actually could, we can, compete for the PL title - unsettling new set up at both clubs. Wenger himself said so in the summer, yet only signed Ozil. He also saw first hand what one world class signing does to lift all the other players in the squad (never mind the fans). But he doesn't seem able to focus on more than one signing at a time and it takes an eternity (I'm sure Dick Law doesn't help*) and agents take advantage of his/our ineptitude in the transfer market. I wish I felt more optimistic about who might come in in the summer. But I know the oil looters and sheiks will have got to all the really heavy hitters first & next season will be yet another battle for 3rd/4th. And Wenger has issues dealing with the pond life that are most agents of top players. But he has to. This is the main instance where he/we miss Dein.

*Dick Law: not ideal, having an American negotiator dealing with European clubs imo. And apparently his negotiating style leaves clubs baffled. OK it's according to that journalist Rafa Honigstein, but he says Law just makes an offer, then walks away if a club says no. Just read mad Ibra's book, and the way his agent handles his deals would mean Wenger just didn't even try. And I'm sure they're pretty much all the same. Ethics not their strong point.

sorry such a long post. Ranting mood.

Sorry for using such profanities, I forgot that we live in such lefty times, where words such as Wankpiece should not be used as they offend the ones not spending 1860 quid x2 on season tickets. Maybe words like Wums are more acceptable, I don't know, strange times for real born and bread Londoners this is.....

LDB, there are a few differences in the moyes situation imo -

1. wenker has given us 6+ years of mismanagement whilst moyes hasnt even had 6 months with them. Familiarity breeds contempt and we have got all to familiar with wenker making the same mistakes over and over (and over) whilst moyes hasnt been there long enough to be resented for mismanagement.

2. Moyes took over a squad that was an absolute mess - that is in no way an exageration and I would suggest that they have only 4 players (rvp, shrek, mata, de gea) good enough to be in our squad much less make it into our team. Compare that to the squad wenker had at his disposal when he took over us - Bergkamp, TA and the rest of the best back 5 ever, seaman etc were the backbone of wenker's early successes and I suspect that if we had a squad as poor back then as the mancs is now, then we may not have had a french manager for too long.

3. Our fans are treated appalingly bad - I know that most fans from other clubs would say the same but none o9f them are charged as much as ours and are then treated with such contempt. Comments from the manager stating that he wishes we could fill the stadium with tourist fans (said whilst on tour) and his general attitude towards the people that pay his 7m per is a disgrace and for me, if you dont respect those people then you cannot expect respect back

I reckon you're all about to get your wish. Wenger will leave at the end of the season.

I've got a really strong feeling he will anyway.

Good post Sid tbf,

Our total income will surpass Bayerns this year, but I think you've hit a good point - we should have been tapping up agents for next summer in December - which is what the big clubs do.

Whereas we wait until our lot have had a nice break then we make our take it or leave it offer based on our notional offer which is usually below what the selling club wants.

Then another club comes in and signs the player, and we pick up sanogo, viviano and kallstrom.

People may not remember, but we lost out on Essien and Ballack the same way . Which if we had got one or both of them may have made the mid 2000's look very different.

Vieira, Henry and Ozil were all offloads where the club WANTED to sell, why we can't understand that some clubs don't need or have to sell to us I don't get.

That team won the league easily a few months before he took over. One player left (paul scholes).

In the matter of 2 months you don't suddenly go from champions to "an absolute mess" in my opinion. Moyes has cocked that team up completely.

Plus United signed Fellaini who Augie called a "must buy" for us.

Mistakes? Sure, we all make mistakes. Doesn't justify all the silly names. Look, I'm a pretty thick skinned guy and I'm certainly not one to take offense on behalf of someone else but I just think the abuse dished out to our manager, who for all his faults will still go down as one of our greatest, makes us as fans look a bit pathetic.

I know I'm a chief turncoat wanker but even when I wanted Wenger gone I never for one second believed that he wasn't trying to do what he thought was best for the club. If he was deliberately and actively trying to undermine the club then that is the only circumstance I can imagine where this abuse would be justified.
2. Moyes took over a squad that was an absolute mess - that is in no way an exageration and I would suggest that they have only 4 players (rvp, shrek, mata, de gea) good enough to be in our squad much less make it into our team. Rosie - eyed assessment of our squad when Wenger took over. We were going nowhere in a hurry despite having some great individual talents, much like the mancs now. Certainly our squad hadn't won the league the season before he took over.

Different eras and all that but I'd definitely say we're a better team now then we were in 1996 but whatever, only in the mind of a child would this justify the abuse dished out around here.
3. Our fans are treated appalingly bad - I know that most fans from other clubs would say the same but none o9f them are charged as much as ours and are then treated with such contempt. Comments from the manager stating that he wishes we could fill the stadium with tourist fans (said whilst on tour) and his general attitude towards the people that pay his 7m per is a disgrace and for me, if you dont respect those people then you cannot expect respect back
I'm certainly not happy with our ticket prices but I did a bit of a comparison in a different thread and nobody really responded to me. Bear in mind we're in the most expensive city in Europe so comparing us to some shite northern team is not comparing apples with apples. An upper tier category B ticket at Fulham is £45, the comparative ticket at Arsenal is £48. Which one is better value? There is also a fag paper's difference between our pricing and Spurs, most of the headlines about our ticket pricing seem based on our ST costs which are inflated by the cup credits.

The comments in Asia were a bit of a PR disaster I must admit. Although it must be quite hard to resist the temptation when on such a tour to praise the fans who are going loopy for you. It strayed too close to slagging off his core support but I think he meant it more as a praise for the Asian fans then a dig at us. I'm sure if he was surrounded by Irish Gooners he'd tell you how suitably impressed he was with your passion

He certainly didn't call us *word censored* 8)

Think it's a bit of both. That United team was put under no pressure last year and had van Judas banging in goals for fun and digging themselves out of all sorts of holes that their defence got them into. And most importantly, they still had that aura where teams would roll over against them. Even last year teams would score a goal or 2 against them and then as soon as United started exerting a bit of pressure they would panic - all Ferguson had to do was put all 4 strikers on and the opposition would part like the Red Sea and let them walk it in. That sort of weakness was always more likely to be exploited with him gone.

That said, doesn't excuse the extent to which they've struggled this season. Moyes got it wrong from Day One - should have just come in and signed Fellaini, put his middle finger up to any critics and said we're the champions, he's my man and we're going to be even better this year (even if he didn't believe it). Instead he made a mockery of himself, intensified doubts over his ability to attract big players and massively unsettled what should have been the most stable squad in the league, not to mention resorting to suggesting FA bias with their fixture list. Of course he's made mistakes since then but it all stems from the summer for me.
