Re: McDowell's VANITY 'Rumours' Thread
I'm now getting a bit worried that we're going to miss out on signing Nick Powell from Crewe - its gone far too quiet for my liking.
At this rate Derby County or Sheffield Wednesday are going to beat us to his signature and condemn us to another season of misery.

No he didnt - contract talks broke down and he has since found himself on the fringes looking in for most of the season. Of course to me it is no coincidence that when they needed to steady the boat in the last few weeks, it was de jong they turned to

Re: McDowell's VANITY 'Rumours' Thread
They have been bringing him on for Nasri a lot in the last few months. He's a very good player. Bit of a hatchet man though.

Agree with every bit of that except the fact that he would provide competition for song............de jong pisses all over song

Post of the month mate. Brilliant.
Would we actually consider paying De Jong decent wages to play for us? (better than he earns at his present club)
I reckon many other clubs would go the extra 2-3 million pounds to sign him.
I read today that Le Prof puts a valuation on a player, and sticks to it.

Looks like M'villa rumor died down after achieving 3rd place.

Re: McDowell's VANITY 'Rumours' Thread
Sorry this from a couple of days ago... couldn't see it on here though...
http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/898902-ars ... fer-window
Arsene Wenger: Arsenal won't be busy in transfer window
Arsene Wenger has warned Arsenal fans not to expect much activity during the summer transfer window, as having Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby back will be like two new signings.
The Gunners have been linked with moves for Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila, Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen, Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud and Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm in the past few days.
Wenger, who has already agreed a deal to sign Germany striker Lukas Podolski from Cologne, admitted he still wants to bring in 'one or two players'.
However, he insisted there was no need for a major spending spree, as the return of Wilshere and Diaby after their long-term injuries would leave the squad in a strong position.
'We have already bought Podolski and we have bought five players during the season when it had already started,' the manager told Arsenal Player.
'Our job will be focused on inside [matters] now we have Podolski. That means to get Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby back in a healthy situation and then I believe we have quite a big squad.'
One important piece of business Arsenal are determined to do is persuade captain Robin van Persie to sign a new contract.
Juventus are keen to land the Dutch striker, but Gunners officials are optimistic they can convince him his long-term future should be at the Emirates Stadium.
++++++
Some of Wenger's favorite sayings all in the same report:- A quiet summer, players coming back from long term injury, ''like new signings'' in the case of Diaby he must have rejoined us now about 20 times, FFS!!!!

Re: McDowell's VANITY 'Rumours' Thread
The problem for most clubs contemplating buying anyone from Citeh will be the wages (as per the Scum and Adebarndoor) and I suspect Citeh will have to compensate the player or continue to pay a proportion of their wages, which they'll be reluctant to do for their competitors (yes I'm including us!).
De Jong is much more limited than players like Javi Martinez but he does what he does very well and would be a massive improvement on the Sheepshead. It would mean a slightly different role for Arteta but, with Jack and Rosicky, would give AW options should he wish to vary his midfield style (don't laugh).
