It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Absolutely dreadful, can't imagine what it must be like to be caught up in an incident like that, must change your perspective on life a bit I would imagine.
As for people saying well what about the hundreds of people that died in Iraq this week, of course that's terrible but do you really expect your average bloke to be able to relate to life in Iraq as much as in the USA?

Good point. I hate when people do that whole "yeah but 126 people died today in Iraq/Afghanistan etc", as if it negates the suffering of these people in Boston because they don't have to deal with it every day. Something like this is more shocking to Western sensibilities than the almost daily slaughter in Iraq by its very definition - its a rarity in a supposedly safe civilised modern city. Doesn't make it less or more horrific or worthy of less or more sympathy, but it is more likely to draw comment, again because of its rarity, and impact upon our psyche.
A guy I used to know pretty well died 4 years ago today late 20s, picked up a heart condition in his early 20s although you would never have known it and his death was completely out of the blue. People have an understandable tendency to exaggerate people's qualities after they die but I can say hand on heart that he was a true gent and genuinely one of the kindest people you could ever hope to meet whose happiness was infectious.
Anyway he was a massive Cardiff City supporter and went to every home game throughout his life along with his two brothers and parents - for that reason I hope Cardiff get the point they need tonight against Charlton because it will be a fitting tribute to him.
8 year old boy died in Boston while cheering his dad on in the marathon. His sister and mother both critically injured as well.
i don't know if youve seen footage or not but some of it is brutal. Blood and flesh and limbs spread across the ground at the impact of the first bomb.

That's just appalling. Poor poor people. That poor guy, his family devastated like that.
I've seen some of the footage and it reminds me alot of what we unfortunately saw alot of in Northern Ireland over the last few decades. This type of indiscriminate bombing is only done by scumbags and insane people.

Me too. Given that it was Patriot's Day I'm thinking Militia...
Patriot's Day and Federal Tax Day.
But if right wing/militia then why attack civilians?
It does not make sense.
Unless it was the Aryan Gang who have been killing law officials in Texas, wanting to make a bigger point?
Or a local lone wolf, a loner, single male, unemployed, grudge against the state, former state worker now unemployed?
Also was Israeli Memorial Day for victims of terrorism and military casualties.
But no obvious Jewish connection to Boston Marathon.

I don't want to seem crude and crack jokes on a R.I.P. thread but I say this on Twitter last night as a possible motive for the attack in Boston. It was retweeted by @Liverfool_FC from @DailyAnfield
John Henry's from Boston & most American #LFC fans live there. Do you think the bombs deliberately been set off today as it's Hillsborough?
It seems that @DailyAnfield has since deleted his/her account!
most likely some right wing nut job or lone bomber. if it were some kind of terrorist attack i think they would claim responsibility for it since it's a pride thing for them.

Seriously ..that is beyond belief and yet it is Liverpool ..
Would agree that it is some nutter rather than a terrorist attack. Every mile of the marathon was dedicated to a victim of the Sandy Hook massacre, maybe there is something in that.
R.I.P. to the people killed in the explosion in Texas last night. They say up to 15 people so far but might be more and just read looting has now taken place close to the scene!!! What the fuck is going on with this world
Can't help but smirk at the whole city of Boston being laid sieige by a nineteen year old Chechen student, so much for the gun brigade defending the country.
I can just see them all now hiding under their fucking coffee tables clutching their AK47 assault rifles, trembling with fear as their huge fat ass underpants fill with diarrhea.
