As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Why do people quote calendar years? If you play all the shite at the back end of one season and the start of another it will inevitably produce that outcome. You said I was incredibly prudent to say we would finish 4th when we were top.....now you say it's the view of the many. So why was it prudent a few weeks ago if you always agreed ?
Maybe I'm wrong and your prediction of us finishing 4th stands out more than I thought.
Didn't a poll on here in August end with most saying we'd finish 4th or 5th???
I think I said 4th. I'll check.
Either way, I'm not sure your prediction is that different to most on here?
4th in August perhaps. As I said - how many including you were saying that a few weeks back?
Here's the August prediction thread, and most think 4th or 5th.
I'll check what I said a few weeks ago because I'm fairly sure I've always said Chavs and Citeh will be difficult to keep pace with... therefore, I "dared" predicting 3rd by default.
I think I even accepted Bayern will beat us... so, by default, I "dared" to say we'd exit the CL early.
So again, not sure our predictions are that different.
The only reason it's surprising to you is that I still think we've progressed from a year or 2 back even if that's not reflected in league position or a trophy. I just feel much more comfortable with this squad than I used to.

We've become more consistent at beating the shite.....that I will admit and did some time ago
Problem is we show no signs of learning from any of the painful lessons against the top teams. Depressing

Not at all. I got today badly wrong....thought they were overrated. Pissed off in the extreme

Absolutely.
Not that insightful and rather distateful to rub everyone's noses in it. I'd call in wumming, but apparently that's only a problem if you're called Red Wumber and not a long time poster like SteveO.
I don't post much on here these days. Partly because of the hatred I read on here by some (mainly clockender in fairness) and also because it now seems to be cool to mock Arsenal and laugh and enjoy defeats.
I'm a gooner so, even though I share the frustration of many, I can't agree with the behavior of some on here and it's turned me right off the place. It would be more enjoyable for a spud, as at least they could join in with the hatred and mockery.

A diabolical result in the least daunting of our current run of fixtures, so what lies ahead now ? Many of us suggested that as soon as things started to go tits up, le cock would race in with his cheap biro (dizzying prices and all that) and sign his name to that extended bumper rewarding for failure contract, so when are we expecting him to sign ?

We got slaughtered today but we are still 2nd and in with a shout of winning something, things are not that bad

Does anyone really laugh and enjoy defeats, mate? I think you're pushing it a bit although I can see where youre coming from.
It's so polarised on here. You either have to love everything or hate everything. I hate the repetetive nature of some of the criticisms but also the unquestioning love of the club. Let's have a bit more an intellectual debate about what's right and wrong - what our ambitions are, what being a football club actually means.
Unfortunately, the days of decent debate on this place have long gone, only to be replaced by the twitter type rhetoric.

Agreed, awful awful start and pathetic performance.... but, based on recent performances, the slow start was perhaps predictable
Wednesday is massive. Beating a poor United will give them a well needed boost... defeat, and it doesn't bode well for the dreaded March.
Like many, I also fear we'll rest players in the FA Cup despite having little chance of beating Bayern over 2 legs... and end up coming unstuck in both

Totally agree there are a few on here who's opinions I have respected over the years but even before today's result the negativity is incredible.
This place is known for its negativity (or realism as I'd like to call it) amongst other Arsenal Internet forum users and in recent years it's all been truthful but the negativity while we are top of the league is ridiculous

Can I say from my own perspective that sometimes if you don't laugh then you will end up crying and today qualifies as one of those days. By my nature I am sometimes volatile and argumentative (rarely but sometimes ) and in the past I have come on here and expressed my feelings on performances and games like today, and all it has done is get me into a shit load of trouble and arguments with other posters Today I opt for the more serene "it is what it is" approach and it annoys me if that is then interpreted as mockery and enjoying defeats - there is nobody that is more frustrated and pissed off than I am
