Absolutely.

Not that insightful and rather distateful to rub everyone's noses in it. I'd call in wumming, but apparently that's only a problem if you're called Red Wumber and not a long time poster like SteveO.

I don't post much on here these days. Partly because of the hatred I read on here by some (mainly clockender in fairness) and also because it now seems to be cool to mock Arsenal and laugh and enjoy defeats.

I'm a gooner so, even though I share the frustration of many, I can't agree with the behavior of some on here and it's turned me right off the place. It would be more enjoyable for a spud, as at least they could join in with the hatred and mockery. :|

But each to their own.
Totally agree there are a few on here who's opinions I have respected over the years but even before today's result the negativity is incredible.

This place is known for its negativity (or realism as I'd like to call it) amongst other Arsenal Internet forum users and in recent years it's all been truthful but the negativity while we are top of the league is ridiculous

Flash, that reads an awful lot like "it is realism when I agree with it but negative when I don't" :o

When a poster talks about being top because we have had a soft run of fixtures, is it realism or negative ?
When a poster bemoans the lack of jan signings, is that realism or negative ?
When a poster speaks about our record of bottling the big games, is it realism or negativity ?
When a poster speaks about our manager as being tactically clueless, is that realism or negativity ?

Do I need to go on ?

Does anyone really laugh and enjoy defeats, mate? I think you're pushing it a bit although I can see where youre coming from.

It's so polarised on here. You either have to love everything or hate everything. I hate the repetetive nature of some of the criticisms but also the unquestioning love of the club. Let's have a bit more an intellectual debate about what's right and wrong - what our ambitions are, what being a football club actually means.

Unfortunately, the days of decent debate on this place have long gone, only to be replaced by the twitter type rhetoric.

That's the thing. It's become a place to ridicule and vent endlessly about one man. I just wish people would just put on their signature what their views of Wenger are, and then move the discussion on to more interesting things.

It's repetitive, nasty and boring. People's view on the man haven't changed, so why keep repeating it?

And perhaps "enjoying" defeats isn't quite right, but you can bet your life there will be plenty of mockery and an endless amount of "look at me, I predicted this... I told you so, I told you so" :o

I just find it sad the way people have taken over the forum and made it so spud friendly. And it is spud friendly, because they could happily join in the hatred and mockery and no one would notice... only if they were leaning towards the pro-Wenger camp would they stand out.

I get that the forum members dictate which direction the forum takes, but it's gone too far the wrong way for me. I don't enjoy being nasty and hateful towards anyone nor do I enjoy ridiculing my own club after a numbing defeat.

But, as I said, each to their own. I'm just giving my thoughts and the reasons I don't post much these days.

g88ner you are wrong when you say that people hadn't changed their stance on wenker in recent months - many on here stated that they had changed their opinions and that is something that they are absolutely entitled to do. What pisses me off is when these same people then start pontificating to the rest of us cos it is absolutely hypocritical when you consider where they stood just a few months ago

Tbh I am intrigued to see what this place will be like when we finally get rid of le cock - he has been manager since before this forum began so it will be new territory for us all when that day arrives (please god let it be soon). Also can I suggest that this place reads like groundhog day cos every Arsenal season is a groundhog day - we all come on here and express our opinions of what is going on at that particular time so if it reads repetitive then that is because we, as fans, have been down this well trodden road before :(

Augie being top of the league in the 2nd week of Feb. having played every team at least once isn't a 'soft run of fixtures' so that IMO is negativity and blimey there has been a lot of negativity even when we're top. It makes me wonder what this place would have been like in 2002 or 2004???? The negativity was prior to Jan. transfer window but I'll give you the others to a degree.

But each to their own.

Can I say from my own perspective that sometimes if you don't laugh then you will end up crying and today qualifies as one of those days. By my nature I am sometimes volatile and argumentative (rarely but sometimes  ) and in the past I have come on here and expressed my feelings on performances and games like today, and all it has done is get me into a shit load of trouble and arguments with other posters  Today I opt for the more serene "it is what it is" approach and it annoys me if that is then interpreted as mockery and enjoying defeats - there is nobody that is more frustrated and pissed off than I am
You weren't one I was thinking of to be honest, mate.

Yes, I think you're over negative at times (ok, all of the time :D ) but I think you're one of the best posters on here. You're certainly not one I associate with mocking the team (and optimistic fans) when we suffer defeat. You seem to be more focused on venting your frustration than ridiculing optimistic fans and showing off that you predicted this (... even though most people/betting shops also did)

I don't think anybody here actually enjoys us losing, its more a case of weve been here so many times before the past 8 seasons,we know we wont actually win anything so defeats here and there don't matter in the wider scheme of our season.if we had a winning mentality like we did when the nutty professor first joined us then every defeat would hurt because it would push us further from silverware that was achievable but come on who actually believes we can win anything, seriously, this is the problem,we don't have a winning mentality anymore so the pain is not quite as bad as it was,i still remember how awful I felt when we lost the fa cup semi to utd back in 99,why??cos back then we were cleaning up,defeats were rare,we were a power house, now we are powder puff,a pale shadow of what we used to be.Arsenes turned us into Arsenal 'light'.my frustrations or apparent joy when we lose like many here is because it means that crunt is made to look like the tool that he is.I LOVE ARSENAL FC,NOT ARSENE FC,ARSENAL FOREVER :barscarf:

One of the problems on here imo if you post you are happy when things are going well(prior to todays game)and take every game as it comes you are straight away labeled a wenger supporter by certain posters who then go out of their way to troll through previous posts u might have made weeks/ months back to back their arguement(then go crying to the mods if you call them names  )Im a glass half full guy on here and in life in general ,i hate losing and im not a good loser and dont mind admitting it .I hate liverpool with an absolute passion ,i hate everything about them their players ,their manager no matter who he is,their fuming whiny supporters, their constant every home game minutes applause/silence( which we had again today ).

The good thing is we have a chance next sun of knocking them out of the 1 competition i really think we can win and i want to win, just to see it all fucked away by wenger in his pursuit of the 1 competition we are not going to win while hes in charge

Sorry gone slightly off topic oops

When you strip down all the personal agenda's, what you will find is a large number of Arsenal fans who knew, that even though we were top of the league, we needed to be battering the likes of Cardiff, palace and Fulham if we are to be genuine challengers - people seem to ignore psychological aspects in football but to me sometimes winning isn't enough. I remember our teams in GG era when the opposition felt defeated when we scored against them cos we didn't concede many goals back then. I remember the teams in the 2002/04 era when our team stepped onto the pitch with almost a goal lead because every team was scared and felt inferior to us.
I think most realise that other teams don't fear us anymore - they know that even if we beat them, we wont give them a walloping cos we lack the ruthless nature. All of us are aware that no big team fears us - yes they will come out with patronising shite building us up cos they know that we don't handle pressure well and will collapse. In my opinion, being top of the league and with a run of fixtures against the teams I listed above, is the ideal chance to send out a powerful confident message to the rest of the league but instead we limp over the line and that to me disappoints fans and leads to criticism/negativity

I don't agree that people's views have changed that much. Ok, some will have but not the majority.

The main difference is that some have been in a more optimistic (and hopeful) place than others... and when you're top of the league for most of the season (and Sp*rs have imploded again :D ) then why not? - it would be odd for supporters not be happier when you're top of the league.

The most optimistic fans have still been guarded and are not convinced we'll win anything. Me included, and having looked back (after SteveO seemed to be implying otherwise) I can't see any evidence that I thought we'd win the league or CL. I've always stated that finishing above Citeh, chavs and United will be difficult and I stand by that (...although united are way behind now)

But, with that optimism has come a division. Those optimistic fans are met with ridicule and mockery every time we drop points and when you expect the pain of defeat to be felt by all, you can't quite match it up with the "I told you so" clan and the faux joy that comes from a select few.

We need a range of views on here so I just wish people would be more tolerant and respectful. There's no need for hatred/nastiness and on need for "I told you so" and wumming.

None of which applies to you Augie.
