THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don't think you can compare those times with now. We were not a money making machine fleecing fans and mugging them off (like they do today) well I don't remember it being that way but I'm only old enough to remember the 80's)). Anyway, I do remember only spending a couple of quid to go and really enjoying my day sometimes regardless of result. We also won trophies in the 70/80's so there is another difference too. Again, weren't unsuccessful managers sacked and not (maybe) rewarded with mind blowing contracts putting said manager up there with the top managers of the day? Yet another difference....there cannot be a comparison between the two era's.

Well said. But don't say it too loudly - it would appear that alternative views are frowned upon.

I remember when players used to jump up and down after winning a trophy. Not finishing 4th
Under George it was a crisis if we went two years without a trophy which we never did by the way

I'd say most on here love The Arsenal just as much as u my friend. Just because we love The Arsenal doesn't mean we have to love wenger unconditionally.

Wouldn't be a bad Idea to support him though, whilst were 2nd in the prem.

Sorry mate but the majority of the 'moaners' on here WERE following Arsenal back in the 70's and 80's but weren't charged a fortune to do so while being force-fed constant bullshit about wanting to challenge when the reality is so different!!

So support is conditional on league placing? :rubchin: :rubchin:

Seems like there are quite a few members here who confuse supporting Arsenal with criticism of the manager.

It is possible to want the manager sacked while still supporting the team.

Seems the #flipfloppers are quite happy to give Wenger stick when we
are mooching about for fourth. But now that we are second and Wenger is still makin the same frustrating decisions we are not allowed to voice our criticism without being told off.
Hypocritical in the extreme.
