THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Stuck in his ways, tactically inept, totally predictable.

Get ready for a pedestrian performance Vs The Scousers today unless he starts with The Ox, The Serge and Flam.

Even the virtual trophy is beyond us.

We need to get through this one as Bayern will beat us by at least 4 over 2 legs (possibly after the first).

Such is the loser mentality, Wenger has created, if we lose by 1 goal on aggregate to Bayern, over two legs, this will be twisted by some fans into some false claim, that we somehow matched them. Today is the biggest game of the season, win, and we are one game away from Wembley, but Wenger wont see it that way, as he will rest playes, in the hope of getting a result against a Bayern team, we have no chance of beating :banghead:

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Losing in Paris back in '06 was the worst thing to happen to both Arsene Wenger and Arsenal football club. It is no secret that Wenger has had an (perhaps unhealthy?) obsession with the CL. An obsession which has driven him to make some bizarre tactical swaps - leaving Henry out of the FA Cup semi v United back in 04 in order for him to be rested v Chelsea in the CL semi four days later - a great choice seeing as we lost both.

When we finally got to a final - all be it, two years later than we should have - Wenger probably had it in his head that he had already won the thing. In a sense, we almost did. Should Henry of scored in the opening moments we may of been comfortable, if Lehmann hadn't of had a ruh of blood to the head we may of won, if the ref didn't succumb to pressure of the Barca players, even though the ball went in and sent Lehmann off for them to fluff a free kick, we may of won. There are many reason to how we could of won but none will put the trophy in our cabinet.

Since then, Wenger's obsession ha clearly got the better of him. Building up a team of youngsters on a budget to win the CL will no doubt bring him great plaudit but it wasn't to be and in a sense couldn't happen because of financial muscle taking hold of football. His little ego project has failed and he won't accept it.

Another example of hi ego is the '07 League Cup final vs Chelsea. Played kids, eventually got over come.

Time is up, Arsene. Please leave.

Ladies and Gents - I do want him out, but please, we are in the last 8, so for just once, enjoy it. He did make a massive gamble today, but Christ, we won. Loved the Per man at the end, his emotion is fantastic.

We won today in spite of Wenger - in his mind he thought it was a weaker team, many of us knew it had more pace and width.

You watch the team he puts out with Wilshire, Giroud, rosicky etc get passed through and dicked on Wednesday.

Today's team - could well beat Everton, again in spite of the intention.

well today convinced me that he will sign and I think everyone better get used to that idea.

somehow he always seems to pull something out at the right time just when you think that he can't possibly continue.

Ozil back on deadline day turned supporters from almost open revolt to wild optimism
same will happen now after this result - everyone now thinks we will win the cup

the thing is he will now stubbornly put out a similar team v Everton and we might not get so lucky...

He will definitely sign, I bet he's done that already. He will be here until the end of the world :barscarf: :barscarf:

Kroenke, Ivan & Co. will most probably put him on display at the Emirates like Lenin after he's long gone...
