The book is class, I intentionally read it before so when I see the films I can appreciate em as masterpieces of cinema as well as enjoying the plot.

Agree with Flash, what a load of over rated shite. Add the Shawshank Redemption to that.

I actually thought Apocalypse Now wasn't very good. First half hour was class (and maybe cause I was really tired) I struggled to sustain any interest or stay awake for the next hour and a half through the deep philosophical bits.

Without upsetting Hlebby again   I really cant see it they are so long yet have so many holes in them. For instance in godfather2 when he is in front of the senators there is no reference to it at all before hand, surely in a 3 and half hour film they would have some build up to maybe the most important day in Corleones life? When the bloke is about to give testimony about him to the senators and sees his brother so changes hisd mind - Why? It doesnt tell you why he changed his mind, family shame? Is his brother gonna be killed if he gives evidence? Why didnt they show you them talking about how to stop him giving evidence ie get his brother? Also when the senator is found with the dead prostitute there is nothing about that after the 2 minute scene...... Its all a bit hit and miss and in a massively long film there is enough time to fill in these holes

The thing is i love gangster films Scarface, Goodfellas etc and wanted to love these but they weren't good

flash in The Godfather you have to do the thinking
Its suggested once he notices his brother with corleone he realises his brother would witness him ratting out his old boss. Its a thing of respect.
Flash the Godfather requires a couple of viewings to notice everything . If you read the book also it would uncover a lot

I've never watched any of the godfather films either  I'll be borrowing the dvd off a mate this weekend as it sounds like the kind of film I'd love.
