So Sanchez now 4/7 on to join City..

I guess the bookies suspect exactly what most gooners do - we'll get a Mahrez/Lemar then sell Sanchez and claim we've moved forward because Laca and Lemar is an 'upgrade' on just one Sanchez.

Not good enough, we need Lemar to replace Cazorla who is finished, though for some reason Wenger still pays him £90K a week. :banghead:

If we get Lemar and keep Sanchez I think we'll be genuine contenders next season, though I would prefer we got rid of Coq and either Gabriel or Elneny and bought a better defensive midfielder as all 3 of those players are rank average, though I can't see it happening as Wenger won't want to upset the 'zen' of the squad or some other bollox excuse.

Still think about it, Wenger has another get out of jail card next season - Spurs playing on neutral ground means there is a good chance we can finish ahead of them again and that is the be all and end all, or is it 4th place?, I'm never sure, AKB's and the board between them always moving the goalposts!!. :banghead:

I think you are wrong there,he is every bit as good as henry or Viera the only diffrance being he hasn't served his time with us like they did,not worth the 400k for sure but is it him asking it or the club just bullshitting, seriously im not sure if anybody would ask 400k a week to stay with us
Nah mate, for starters I wouldn't compare him with Vieira. Sanchez has never played CM or DM. With regards to TH14, whilst Sanchez is quality he doesn't quite have the same ability Henry did. Henry was a freak in his alround technical ability and his goalscoring prowess, If Sanchez was in the 2004 squad he would be sub behind Henry and DB10, for sure.

It's a measure of how far we have slipped, that Sanchez is probably the only current player that would genuinely compete for a place in that squad.
total nonsense, you are wearing rose tinted specs, Sanchez is world class in every way,its like saying messi isn't a patch on maradona and like the current porsche 911 isn't a patch on the old air cooled ones,Sanchez would have strolled into the invincibles, they weren't all world beaters you know
Where did I say Sanchez wasn't world class? Go back and read what I said!

All I am saying is he wasn't/isn't as good as two of the greatest players in our history. He would be a bench warmer in 2004 no doubt. Not because he isn't good enough but he would have had two exceptional players ahead of him.

With regards to Messi, until he actually does it in a WC finals then he hasn't got the right to say he is up there with Maradona. If anything, Messi has been overtaken by Ronaldo over the last few seasons anyway.
No waaay! Messi drives a Bugatti Veyron. end of.
Nah Robin Reliant would have me more impressed tbh. That's what bugs me about modern day footy fans they can't see beyond the prem league years, that's why they cream themselves over City winning the league a few years back, as opposed to Anfield 89. Of course Social Media wasn't around back then.

And he'll sign Lemar and say 'Look I signed 2 Super Quality players as Sanchez asked me to do and it still wasn't good enough and he asked to leave' therefore deflecting the blame all off himself and onto the player.

I saw on the BBC website that Cazorla may miss the 2017-18 season as well due to his Achillies injury.
Time to offload him,and go for Marco Assensio.
We have carried too many players,on too much money, for too long.
Our club seems to confuse sentiment with loyalty, and also needs to learn that players have NO loyalty to any club.

Wenger gave him another year though so we will have to pay him £90K a week for the next 12 months whether we like or not, otherwise he'd have been out of contract this summer (ideal really).

Basically we need to replace him in whatever way we can and then carry him because of Wenger's sentiment (incompetence?), perhaps we should dock £90K a week from Wenger's salary.. or Wiggy should pay for giving the old fart a new contract?.

They want to preach the self sustaining model?, fine it's the fans money they are wasting with their poor judgements. Santi has been injury prone for 2-3 seasons now so why give him a new deal?!.

Buying players loyalty so that when they retire they wont say anything bad about him in their memoires or criticise him if they become pundits

Same thing with BGV getting the academy position next year. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if players actually have a gagging clause in their contracts these days as far as Wenger and the Arsenal is concerned. The way players like Pod and Arshavin were treated in their time here by the Fuhrer but they never say anything bad after they leave boggles the mind :rubchin:

Not buying it, today stories going around that Sanchez has "agreed personal terms" with Etihad FC on various dodgy websites, I think they just make this s**t up because there is no source and are trying to guess what is happening so they can appear correct if it does happen, I'm sure the other day they were saying Mahrez had "agreed personal terms".

I think we have to thank ourselves for Sanchez not being sold to City. Even Wenger has to please the fans and he knows it. I think a late bid by PSG might happen.
In reply to other topics Vieira and Henry were both the greatest players in their position I have ever seen at our club. Sanchez is very very good but not quite at those 2s level.
Maradonna is better than Messi because he did it at international level which also puts Ronaldo ahead of Messi.
There you have it.

To be perfectly honest Sanchez has served his purpose as the previous poster has just stated, as an international he comes up short, big difference between class and world class...
Would still love him to remain, but Wengers revolving door looks to be spinning Sanchez out?...
Good or bad we will still end up short!... :cussing:

Sanchez has scored 3 goals in cup semi finals and 2 goals in FA Cup finals, including aguarbly our best ever cup final goal - he turns up for the big matches, but is understandably pissed off with dross not on his level, / wavelength which is why he more often than not looks for Ozil to pass to (and vice versa) rather than Walcott.
He has a tendency to overdo it, but at least works hard to win the ball back.

Lamar > Walcott
Lacazette > Giroud

Enough to keep him for another season ?

Lamar would be a replacement for Sanchez with his versatility. Whilst £50-£80m would be a tempting offer from City for Sanchez, it could hand them the title on a plate just as was the case when RVP left. Not sure that is palatable.

If somehow we could keep Sanchez and Ozil, then regardless of what people think of the manager we would have a serious tilt at the title with Lemar in the squad. Remember Wenger doesn't coach his players and my opinion is when they are good enough, they don't need coaching as was the case with our famous back 4.
