THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

There's one thought that's cheered me up a little this evening... As things stand, in just 3 months he's gone. 90 days. June 1st and there's no more Wenger. What a thought.

I know, I know. Steve O will be here any minute and the new contract will probably be announced on Monday. But fuck it, let me enjoy this moment you bastards. As of tonight, Wenger is gone in 12 weeks.

There's no reason why he wouldn't have signed the contract if he was really intending to stay beyond this season. I don't recall him ever leaving it till the last 3 months before signing a new deal. He's off. He's just gonna announce it as soon as it's confirmed that we've gone 9 years without a trophy.

What does concern me a little is that a clued up, young, proactive board with their fingers on the modern football pulse would be putting a plan together right now, scouting out potential new managers, for the situation that Wenger doesn't sign.

What do you think the yanks and those old *word censored* at our place are up to? Probably on the phone to NPower, British Gas etc winding up their accounts, ready to switch off the lights and close down AFC when our lord & saviour leaves.

Calls for Wenger to go in this vid.
FFS, Hlebby's lost his carer again. :banghead:

In all seriousness, no offence to him but it doesn't do us that many favours when it's always some half-cut old boy in a replica shirt slurring his way through a stream of consciousness, no matter how valid some of his points may be.

I'm with Rodders though, I really think Wenger will be off and have done for a while.

Agree with this also, though. I genuinely think Wenger will go, but I also think in his mind he's waiting to see how this season pans out before he makes his final decision whether or not to sign on again - and in the meantime Gazidis et al are waiting by the phone like a lovestruck teenager, certain he'll call any minute now to tell them he's made them a mixtape of their favourite songs.

You'd hope they'd have the foresight to at least make contingency plans, if not fully-fledged proactive moves to replace him, but realistically even if he goes we'll wait 'til May before we even start thinking about who's gonna replace him.

Act now, let's get someone like Klopp before United get rid of Moyes.

I have a feeling that he was delaying signing because he actually believed that we would win the league and then could renegotiate a bigger contract, after all 8 million a year is an insult

Wenger's new contract is coming

Rationalised it all now - the plan is for it to be after his 1000th game. A North Korean style celebration from the 'sod off Jabba' brigade in windowlickers' corner

You ungrateful bastards. John Cross has been out in force on twitter this morning defending the nutty professor. Apparently we don't deserve to be unhappy because this has been "a terrific season" :? Never mind the fact that there's still two months to go, we've won nothing yet and may struggle to finish 4th...

I wonder who we will get at the Emirates for Arsene's 10 year's of abject failure testimonial?

For as long as Arsene Wenger is manager of Arsenal we will flatter to deceive, end up trophy less, get led into believing false hope and promises and end up frustrated. How can people no longer see this ? Arsene Wenger has not got the wit or the will to change Arsenal and Arsenal PLC have not got the will to change him. To finish fourth is better than third because it gives an extra game the following season at The Emirates.
