Haven’t seen much of Leno but he has made a few good saves last two games. Torreira looks a gem. Sokratis has been really solid to my mind. Guendouzi has done outstandingly well considering the level he was plucked from. Lichtsteiner is no nonsense and a winner. My only real complaint with his signings is that we haven’t seen enough of some of them.

Not getting carried away and we are miles from competing but I’m happy with how things are going.

Two goals on the counter today. When was the last time that happened?

While my only real complaint is we haven't made enough signings. Imagine how much better we would be had we signed a top quality wing forward and another top CB.

lets face it Emery has not put a foot wrong all season - I don't believe there is another manager in world football that could have got this Arsenal team to win our first 2 matches this season.

Ok the following 8 matches have been straightforward, but not only has the team won all 8 but they have done so with the minimum of fuss really - it is now 6 consecutive games in which we have gone 2-0 up. Did that ever happen under Wenger ?

I just hope the wheels don't come off after the Liverpool game, if we pass that test I would say that i'ts an impressive start to Emery's tenure at the Arsenal.

Even if the we lose or draw this game with a good performance, I guess it's still progress, we could not even get 3 points on the road last year, so he must of had a squad with zero confidence.

His first progress i guess is to turn us into flat track bullies and try and sneak 4th, then get us to challenge next year. I hope he gets decent finacial backing , he has spent well so far.

medium term though im not sure how you even fight man city, they have a manager that knows how to spend huge amounts of money well, and has a good attacking style, I just hope that Pep does not stay too long.

Miguel Almiron, has a deal in place which will see him move to England according to his current clubs Darren Eales.

Eales told FOX Deportes USA via 90min: “Almirón’s future is already decided and will go to England in the European winter market.”

We’re just one of a number of clubs interested in the 24-year-old Paraguayan but it seems like he’s made up his mind on who his next club will be.
The guys over at TeamTalk write that that club is Arsenal.

there is a good piece in the Guardian about his "Quiet Revolution" belief in hard work, fine details etc. I thought the highlighted parts are new information :

Emery’s sessions are far more tactical than those of the ex-manager and he has tried to instil his pressing system together with bespoke patterns of play. His idea is that the players should be able to close their eyes and know where options A, B and C are, before choosing the most progressive one. He wants to “generate superiority” – in other words, have a man over in certain areas of the pitch – and he likes players who can play in more than one position.

Emery’s Arsenal will never play long; they will always build from the back and although his structures are not rigid, there is structure all the same.


Emery’s preparations are meticulous. They are tailored to each opponent, with the use of video analysis key, and they begin with an hour-long debrief from the previous game. On a big screen, every mistake is pinpointed, along with the good bits. Players are encouraged to see why a particular option is best – ‘If this pass is played, it will open up here and here; this teammate has been told to stand there for you.’

Post-match, players will get statistical breakdowns on their performances and before the next one, in addition to the hour-long group video session, they can receive one-on-one briefings and information on their direct opponents.

My feeling with that is it's a result of Wanker not fucking off in 2014 or 2016 when we were in the champions league and could have attracted better players with a new manager in place. Right now, we need to convince players to join and that has to come through results and improvements on the pitch.

Too Fuckin' rye aye mate! Couldn't agree more! I've always been proud to be a Gooner, but the last 8 seasons of wengerism certainly depreesed me more than thatn gave me joy.

We cannot get those years back, but I now look forward to seeing/listening to Emery's interviews etc

And I hav not seen such Enthusiasm & Comradeship amongst the players in fucking years - and you can tell it's genuine , rather some kin dof psuedo let's be happy coz our manager says we should.

Everything he does is the opposite to Wenger's approach. The lazy, indifferent, approach to matches and lack of homework done on the opposition was scandalous. Plus continually shying away from confrontation while everybody pretty much did as they pleased.

Apparently Wenger always believed that a relaxed atmosphere led to a relaxed approach on match day.....now we know the reason we always looked so shell shocked when teams turned up who had a bit of fire in their belly. And there we were with our playground kick about attitude...God the man was a disaster.
