I think we had every right to be 'realistic' considering what Wengers Arsenal had served us up for years.
Rather than 'relentless negativity' I seen people attempting to keep their feet on the ground and not get too carried away in the face of wild optimism and #flipflopping.

After a good half a season some people decided forget the previous years of failure and preach about being negative and object to the Wenger criticism.

It is possible to support the Arsenal while vehemently and aggressively wanting rid of the manager.
Its a very difficult and not a very nice position to hold but Wenger supporters and #flipfloppers need to realise that it is a valid opinion to have

You are 100% correct, but there are still some fans and a lot of media that do not see that. It's because you/we support and love Arsenal that we want Wenger gone.

For as long as Arsene Wenger is manager of Arsenal we will flatter to deceive, end up trophy less, get led into believing false hope and promises and end up frustrated. How can people no longer see this ? Arsene Wenger has not got the wit or the will to change Arsenal and Arsenal PLC have not got the will to change him. To finish fourth is better than third because it gives an extra game the following season at The Emirates.

To be honest BWK,I think a lot of people who are realistic about Arsenal now don't allow themselves false hope,hand on heart I KNEW we wouldn't win anything again this year and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I genuinely don't know anyone who really thought we'd win the league. You just try and be as optimistic and supportive as you can. After all, that's what fans do.

Doesn't mean we don't see the problems - we just hope for a happy surprise. I still hope, but certainly don't expect.

Maybe there are some fans who think we're better than chavs or Citeh - or maybe even Bayern, but I'm lucky enough not to share a mental ward with them, so I don't have to speak to these people.

Spot on. I've never once thought we'd win the league but I didn't see the point in the relentless negativity when we were doing well and on top of the league. I think it's important that the players and manager know that their performance at Stoke was nowhere near the required standard. However, I hope we fans create a strong positive atmosphere for the big games to come and not just go completely flat if something doesn't go our way in those games like the Ozil penalty vs Bayern. It's not over yet but we're going to need to seriously break our duck in those games.

I am becoming more and more convinced though that this could be Wenger's last season if we don't win a trophy, especially if the WOB army becomes suitably large and noisy. There is no obvious explanation as to why he hasn't signed a new contract yet unless he's holding out to see how this season ends.

Interestingly on 5live the other night they had a scouser, city, chav and gooner fan on and the only fan to be convinced that their team would win it was the scouser . Although even better was that the Arsenal fan was from RedAction and when the host asked him about Wenger he went into full blown AKB mode (might have even been Cook off here?). I was praying he'd ask him about Usmanov to send augie and steveO over the edge

Am watching the Madrid derby as we speak and I will tell you this, diego simeone would change our whole cuddly bear ethos running through our team That man reminds me of the great GG.....he has his players 100% fired up to the point that they fear no-one and believe that they can beat anybody plus tactically he sets them up well - I would love to see a manager in charge of our team that would instill a sense of pride, determination and passion in the players again.

I know that there is a whole load of diving going on (more than barca v real tbh ) but fcuk me there is some tough challenges as well and these teams really dislike each other Almost kicked off on the sidelines a few minutes ago when some fat Athletico Madrid coach had to be dragged away from going after the ref - seemingly the same coach threatened to rip moaninho's head off last season

I actually think that Wenger is going to go this Summer. I might be wrong but whenever his contract has been up for renewal before, he has either signed it relatively early or has come out and said that he will be signing one. This time round it's all gone quiet apart from Gazidis saying that he thinks Wenger will sign.

With the 3 games this month, we could easily find ourselves in 5th and this would be too embarrasing for the man who believes we are better than what we really are. Even a cup win wouldn't stop him from going because Europa League footie next year would be too much for his ego to take.

Yesterday was truly awful and is yet another sign that he can't motivate the team. And even when you're playing shit, who would you really want with one chance in injury time? Sanogo or Suarez?

I'll never crunt him off because of what he did in his first 10 years but he has to accept that he used to be a good manager......but not anymore
