THE FRANKSAV MUSIC THREAD

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

How was it Chippy? - and did you go to Holland specifically for the gig? :o
It was great, however Counting Crows weren't on this bill. I misunderstood. However they did do the song they sang with them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzQtEk9CzCA

I pretty much did go just for the concert, but I lived in Holland for 3 years so visited some friends and tried to sort out a financial problem. Enjoyed a little visit to the red light district too. I love the Netherlands. Best organised country in the world.
FFS Chippy, that was like expecting to go and see Westlife supported by the Beatles.

Saw a UB40 tribute band in Ipswich Sat night (UB42, who hail from Birmingham too) and have a couple of original members in their line up from time to time, always put on a good gig and this was no exception.

Due to a complete fuck up I have 2 tix for Elvis Costello tomorrow night (Thursday). They cost me £96 but at this stage I'll take waht I can get. It's at Royal Albert Hall.

Going through a Thin Lizzy stage, Live and Dangerous on now. Like the new live releases, have been a big fan of the Almighty and Ricky Warwick for years. Love the Black Star Riders - one of the best albums I have bought this year. :D

Elvis was shite value last night. Only 2hrs 50mins without a break, lazy fucker. It got me thinking though about cover versions. Mostly I like the originals better, but you have to say that his Shipbuilding and Peace Love and Understanding are better than the originals, plus a lot of Paul Young's' covers are too. But there are so many shite ones like the boy band covers of people like Tracy Chapman and Cat Stevens. So rather than start a new thread, what are your favourite and least favourite covers?

Sorry, gonna display my pissed-ness, listening to the Manfredd mann version of Blinded by the Light, and heresy, think it's better than the original!
