Benayoun did a great job for us. Excellent work rate, often made an impact off the bench.

Don't think he was brought in to be a "first team player", but then again we didn't really have many first team players that were miles ahead of him...

Unfair comparison.

Benayoun had a year out through injury prior to joining us on loan, hence was surplus to requirements at Chelsea where money was no object to buying new players.

Silvestre though was in boxing parlance, "Shot" when he came to us.
Bridge too was past his best when he left City.

Djourou is reported to have joined Hannover for a fee of £1.5m . The reports broke tonight based on a German paper and at the time of writing nothing has been confirmed by Arsenal who are expected to make the deal official somewhere around January 31st. It’s a shame that his Arsenal career didn’t pan out, I think I’m right in saying that he is, or was, our longest serving player, and one who showed great promise when he was younger which he just wasn’t able to fulfill. Needless to say, everyone here at LadyArse wishes him all the best, well, I assume they do, I didn’t run a poll.

the other centreback at Arsenal who never gets any game time has been speaking to Varmating.com and has confirmed that he will be leaving Arsenal.

I will be out of contract at the end of the season. Under the proposals, I will leave. Perhaps during the January transfer window or else I will wait for the month of June. Of course, back in PACA – in my hometown – is something that interests me. Marseille, Nice, Monaco, Bastia, or Ajaccio are clus that speak to me.

I am 32 years old. I still have two or three good season to go. On the French Riviera or elsewhere. I choose depending on the opportunities that arise

Reports are saying that Atletico Madrid forward, Adrian Lopez, is on the verge of signing for Arsenal.

They are also saying that the Spaniard could be an Arsenal player before next weekend, as Arsene Wenger wants him in before the Manchester City game.
The details of the deal are still unknown but it is estimated to be around £14 million

I've had a feeling that Wenger would try and actually sign a couple of decent proven class players this window.
Yet another u turn and would show that he is indeed under pressure. His ego doesn't like the fans and media exposing him at last. Bout 4-5 years too late for me though.

How can it be an unfair comparison Quartz. Do you think if Benayoun was that good, the Chavs would have farmed him out on loan for a second season. He is not good enough for a team supposedly challenging for the Champions league - its as simple as that. As a benchwarming replacement for Arshavin maybe - as a first teamer, never. Rosicky is streets ahead of the bloke

I think he will. Much like the situation when we signed Arshavin, the only thing that forces Wenger to buy is if the Virtual Trophy and the associated revenue is at risk. It really is as simple as that. Nothing to do with fulfilling the ambition and desires of the fans who he is happy to see being used as a convenient ATM. Nothing to do with Wengers ambitions on the pitch because he has none - and why should he.? Clearly he doesn't get his £7m for success on the pitch.

I feel it is not as simple as that.
At Chelsea, it is "jam today".
Benyaoun was coming back from a season long injury, so they were not going to take a chance on him, because they do not need to take a chance on players, they simply buy in a new one, whereas we persevere with the likes of Diaby for six and half seasons of ongoign injuries.
They sent Benayoun to us, and monitored how he did.
But there was no talk of a permanent deal, they knew how good he had been pre-injury, though maybe we did not offer a permanent deal either?
As for the second season, being loaned out by them is not shame.
They have buckets of cash and can buy up players simply to stop other clubs having them, and also remember they go through managers, to borrow a pun-phrase from Biggie Smalls, "quick fast like Ramadan".
So a new manager might not like the players his predecessors have bought.

Rosicky streets ahead of him?
I rate them about the same to be honest.

Watching Benayoun was like watching Rosicky on slow motion

Average player. If that's the height of our expectations then no wonder we're competing with Swansea and Everton for the Thursday Night Cup places

Yes, our wonderful loyal servant and longest serving professional at the club. Nothing to do with the fact that only Lord Wenger would pay the useless fucker anything more than 15-20k per week as you say. Apart from a run of a dozen games a couple of years ago the bloke has been fucking awful

From this morning's presser
Wenger: 'We have rebuilt a team and we have to show that we can be consistent now'
What does that say about likely purchases o deluded ones.
