SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal's £70m summer spree: And that's just what Arsene Wenger can spend on transfer fees.

Not quite WILL. But better than could. :oops:

It's a day of pouring news. A huge update on Arsenal. Waiting for confirmation. Stay tuned

@PetritMusliu
According to TMW, Arsenal are serious about Jovetic, offered €28m for the player. Before anything concludes Fiorentina will speak with Juve.

I heard a rumour twice now about Torres being Wenger's priority signing this Summer, I'm sure the talk will grow over the next month or so as he fits the bill perfectly, out of form since his Liverfool days and just the sort of player that Wenger thrives at turning into a World beater. Anyone else heard anything? Personally I'd love it to happen.

I think its a red herring, Wenger really wants Jovetic but needs to create a bit of interest elsewhere to try and batter the price down

How is Torres the type of player that Wenger thrives on turning into a "world beater" (aka a future 20 million transfer)? He is not an 18 year old French/African or young Spaniard. He's someone way past his prime that happens to get a few nice goals because he is playing in a talented team. We already have a main striker who is not good enough, why do want to add one who is at about the same level because he isn't good anymore?

I can't stress enough what a great signing this would be should it come off. :barscarf:

it would be marvellous but for one thing... If he takes a penalty like the one on that clip (one of those little 'dinks' that, IF they come off, make the keeper look like an arse.) he can fuck right off!

A penalty should be hit and hit hard imo. "put your foot through it son" "hit the c.nut hard" "leather the fcuker!" "take the keeper into the net" "welly it son!" "put your laces through it" "pile drive the f.cuker through the net"

I hate players doing that little 'dink', risk reward does not justiy it. FFS. Signing jovetic or 'francois the unknown frenchman' I want no fucker who 'dinks' penalties.

my views and my views only of course but anyone who thinks a penalty should ever be 'dinked' is a turd of the highest order ;)

News breaking this lunchtime in the Football Transfer Tavern suggests that Arsenal are close to landing their first summer signing in Fiorentina striker and long-term target Stevan Jovetic after activating his massive release clause.

Anthony Ashworth from Metro reports that Jovetic's agent is currently in London thrashing out a £24.5 million deal and it now appears that the Gunners have successfully beaten Italian giants Juventus to the Montenegro international striker.
