Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
They do seem to be in a bit of a mess all of a sudden. Feel sorry for their fans really, a decent bunch and always quite liked Saints as a club. I don't blame the players for wanting to test themselves at bigger clubs but surely they don't have to sell them all at once, which makes you wonder if something is going on...
Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
They got rid of Cortese, didn't put up any fight at all over Pochettino going to the scum,Lambert and Lallana are fan favourites because they've come through the divisions with them.Leyton Gooner wrote:They do seem to be in a bit of a mess all of a sudden. If those 2 leave as well as Shaw, then I worry they will hit the skids and fast. Even if you wanted to sell the club , surely you'd keep the prized assets before any sail

Luke Shaw is either off to Chavs or manure,
Lallana and Lovren are being bid for by at least the victms and possibly the scum,
Clyne possibly off to victims and we are looking at Chambers and Schneiderlin..................
Now that's what I call a fire sale.
WTF are the board doing at Southampton ?
Saints to be relegated next season is available at 12/1, expect that to shorten over the next few weeks.
What about Wanyama ? Nobody in for him yet ? Was highly thought of up in Scotland.

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
Southampton were promoted 2 years ago with a squad good enough to stay in the PL. They've gone and spent nearly £70m since then - most of it pissed away - with barely a penny made in player sales.
That is an absolute truckload of money for a club like Southampton to spend and was spunked away irresponsibly with very little long-term planning, capped by firing a manager who had performed admirably and replacing him with some bloke who couldn't wait to piss off after a year or so.
Honestly can't pretend I feel sorry for them. Because they play half-decent stuff and have decent English players there they're extremely popular, but tbh I think a relegation battle is exactly what they deserve.

Don't like to see any club being stripped bare because their owners are money grabbing c**ts and we know what that's like.northbank123 wrote:Southampton were promoted 2 years ago with a squad good enough to stay in the PL. And considering we slag off our club for never investing properly are we really going to have a go at a club investing money in new players albeit under Cortese's stewardship.

More worrying is the rumour that they are overpaying on Lambert so they get Lallana for £20million, that way Saints get £15million +£5million overpayment on Lambert and Bournemouth only 25% of £20million and not £25million.
Not illegal but a bit underhand if true.

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
Southampton could potentially lose Shaw, Lambert, Chambers, Lallana, Schneiderlin, and their manager all in the same window?
Talk about an exodus - they're being eviscerated. You have to feel sorry for them - let's not forget they also produced Bale, Walcott, and Chamberlain - they have by far and away the best youth set up in the country and consequently get pillaged to the core.
I'd imagine morale will be extremely low if they head into next season having lost so many key figures; they should avoid relegation, though, providing they invest wisely.

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
It's hardly money-grabbing. It's not realistic for Southampton to expect to keep players if the likes of United and Liverpool come calling. It would, however, have been prudent to have been more sensible with the spending so that they had a significant transfer fund to replace the outgoing players this year rather than blowing £70m on needless luxury signings over the past two seasons.topgoon wrote:Don't like to see any club being stripped bare because their owners are money grabbing c**ts and we know what that's like.northbank123 wrote:Southampton were promoted 2 years ago with a squad good enough to stay in the PL. For me the main argument for our investment isn't so much need - clubs at all levels always needs at least a player or two - it's that we can comfortably afford this investment. In realistic terms as a club we should be signing better players and putting more pressure on the PL leaders than we have been. If Southampton are left to sell players this year and try and bring in cheap replacements it's indicative that they couldn't afford that investment, hence entirely different to our situation as nobody is calling for investment we can't afford. Realistically they can't keep chucking money around the way they have and it was overly ambitious of them to think they should be consistently challenging for Europe considering there are 7 very well-set teams already in those spots.

£9mil is a piss-poor offer for the starting RB from the La Liga champion and CL finalist. I would have him at Arsenal in a heartbeat. Impressed me every time I watched.mcdowell42 wrote:http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... id-3622340

Morata has asked to leave Real Madrid. (Cadena SER)

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
Morata stories are gathering the same kind of pace as another Los blancos striker from last summer, I won't be holding my breath

The Liebehr family aren't exactly poor so I'm not sure they can't afford it. They bought experienced players that they thought would help them push on,it didn't work. All clubs do it and sometimes it works but it will always be a gamble buy players.
Saying the Saints shouldn't invest to try and break the stranglehold of the top 7 means we should continue with the boring predictable nature of our league. I like that the mid table teams like the Saints want to Push on in the league. Yes we'll get a bloody nose now and then but that's just part of football in this country. Rather that than La liga

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
They gambled by investing heavily and ultimately poorly and now their chickens are coming home to roost. That's the bottom line and I don't see why I should feel sorry for them.
