THE BOARD - Kroenke, Usmanov and Finance

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

stuartl mate, R & W have already got the 21 shares for 30%,they certainly don't need Piers Morgans help !

Every share purchase that takes place has to then go to Arsenal board to be signed countersigned etc and over the past months David Miles and his cronies have used all the stalling tactics and delays before each transfer finally happens.

As has been pointed out , nothing will happen until the season is over( if at all ) and as each trophyless year goes by our frustration increases.

Since I posted this topic originally, on this forum( and others i am told about ) there has been a significant mood swing change if not in favour of Usmanov then certainly less ante him and his regime.

This will continue and can only help his determination still to own the club and return us to the Glory Days.

My opinion remains unaltered that a clean sweep is needed and the focus of any campaign or banner should be ante Kroenke- a Kroenke /Gazidis hand picked puppet /replacement for Wenger will achieve nothing except false hope

george I do agree with you that there are problems at both manager and board level. But at the end of the day any signs of dissidence towards Wenger will piss him off, make other fans re-evaluate their stance and plant the seed in the board's head at the very least.

I don't see how protesting against Kroenke is going to be anything other than futile? I'm not saying we shouldn't do it, and I fully support what the BSM have done and anybody that wants to take a stand. But at the end of the day everyone knows he's only in it for the money, he can't have expected that he would be popular or that our asset stripping would lead to footballing success. What's going to compel him to sell?

i sort of agree on the pointless protest piece, full stop , in the same way that what is the point of the 4th place ante wenger banner and the thanks for the memories stuff with wenger but the point i am trying to make is that if there is to be any form of consistent them of expressing a need to want change then that is where i believe it should be, in the ownership.

As an absent landlord he can't suffer like a mike ashley or david sullivan or even daniel levy could by experiencing first hand real time verbal banter and abuse but without expressing anger or frustration, eg at refusing to meet fan groups as he promised on takeover then how else can we let him know we are not happy.

Certainly more chance of him saying he has had enough and selling out if fans are ante him then never say anything at all.

I am not actually ante Kroenke merely ante the model and strategy that our 66.8% shareholder is operating-it does not work , cannot work and will not work.

Stuff FFP, i am not so much pro Usmanov as pro any new owner that is prepared to be committed to the cause and invest not just money but time and the right people around him to put us back where we need to be.

If we don't say we are unhappy and make the owner aware then we are reducing the chances of a sale to anyone ever taking place.

pain before gain unfortunately and only 5th spot and no trophy will give a chance of it happening in the near future

As today seems to be Latin day on the forum, can I just point out that ante means before as in ante natal, whereas anti means against as in antiseptic. Just saying.   :)

The difference for me is that Kroenke knew from the first minute he'd be unpopular because he knew exactly what direction he would take the club in and what that would do to results on the field. He only comes over for maybe one day a year and the AGM where he is normally protected by PHW. I doubt he gives a flying fuck about his popularity here.

The overwhelming likelihood is Wenger will be offered another deal if he wants it, and that there's a fair chance he'll sign one. But the pressure on Wenger and the effect it has on him is palpable - look at his reaction after the Villa game for example. It will undoubtedly play a part in his decision on his future, unlike Kroenke. Unfortunately we're stuck with that prick as long as we're making him money.

I saw this earlier. Posting just for the read.

Will Arsenal's owner please stand up?

I also read this at the weekend, on another forum. Might just be mischief though.

"Some AST members have reported a rumor that one of Stan Kroenke's children is being lined up to join the Arsenal Board, and will reside in London and attend all AFC games. Seemingly the idea will be that Kroenke junior will at some point become Arsenal Chairman after PHW and that Stan might even leave the Board."

If AW manages to persuade the board to bring Dein back to deal with transfers then I will be happier and inclined to let AW at leasts see out his contract with Dien there. If AW does have a huge day then the board will probably bring him back in a smaller capacity.
