ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Rodgers must have been blind drunk in the post game press conference

I like maddison and would prefer him as a signing that vanilla odegaard, but at that price they can fcuk right off

TBH if Grealish is worth £100m then so is Maddison.augie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 6:44 amRodgers must have been blind drunk in the post game press conference

I don't agree with the valuation though and yes they can fuck right off.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I still, along with everyone at the club it seems, dont have a clue what our transfer policy is or what the Manager and Director of Football are trying to achieve...... could someone please enlighten me
As far as I can see we have not really strengthened any of our areas of highest need from last season with the exception of a back up to Tierney, replacement GK - NOPE, upgrade at RB - Nope, improvement at CDM - Nope, improvement at CM - Nope, requirement for a consistent 20+ goalscorer - Nope........ and finally offload the utter dross, some of whom have been with us since Wenger was booted out - Nope
Remember lads we should all be really excited this summer

They know the support is mad to get back in after the pandemic so season ticket sales won't be a problem.
So they have another year to come up with even more bullshit to tell us

4 days before the season opener and a quite frankly pathetic state of affairs. As you say, barely any of the key areas of weakness have been addressed and by the way it has showed up absolutely obviously in the recent two pre season games I've seenGoonerMuzz wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 9:51 amI still, along with everyone at the club it seems, dont have a clue what our transfer policy is or what the Manager and Director of Football are trying to achieve...... could someone please enlighten me![]()

Yesterday was like any of the mind numbing dross I've witnessed under this goon for the past year and a half - tap it around in some sort of Wengeresque "illusionary domination" but barely testing the keeper to wake up from his pipe and slippers 90 minutes in goal.......then get undone by some sort of elementary mistake and lose the game
In fairness to Ben White he looked good out there but I'm not sure I'd spend the vast majority of the transfer budget on a CB when he has Gabriel, Mari, Saliba, and Holding there......plus Chambers as a 5th option and if we'd chosen to retain Mavropanos, a 6th option.
Auba quite clearly has had enough - it isn't working - not for him or the club, but here we are limping into the season with a captain that is showing all the same behaviours as he did for the whole of last season. Bellerin still first choice right back. Leno still unchallenged. 75m spent and here we are still with all the same gaps as before. Utterly clueless
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Our transfer policy seems to be, "let's wait until the big boy clubs get their business done and see what's left". Forgetting, of course, that we are a big boy club. The policy of clubs heading in the wrong direction.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I think you're right but as always we sit around and do fuck all, struggling to get the players who apparently, we have identified but in reality we haven't. Every fucking transfer window is an absolute mess with key areas never strengthened and just the dregs or the desperate to get out of a club left for us to pay horrifically over-inflated transfer fees and completely irresponsible wages. We get the nonsense from some about how the transfer window doesn't close until the end of the month or how the other teams haven't done very much, but every summer, we are in desperate need of so many players and the big boys only really need one or two so it's never really comparable. It hasn't changed in years and never will, standards have slipped so low.

So, what's happening with Maddison ?
Leicester want depending on which paper you read £60 - £70 million which Arsenal think is too much or claim they can't afford and have tried offering (rubbish) players as part exchange.
According to this report we see Lingard as a cheaper alternative:
https://metro.co.uk/2021/08/09/arsenal- ... wsnow-feed
FFS please don't let this happen!
According to this report Liecester see Lingard as a replacement for Maddison if he goes to Arsenal:
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football ... e-lingard/
This one also:
https://talksport.com/football/924148/
Fine by me, let them have him.
According to this report Martin Ødegaard is still an option for Arsenal:
https://dailycannon.com/2021/08/martin- ... -maddison/
All in all we have no idea what's gonna happen.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Tammy Abraham is at the top of Arsenal's wish list, who however must first sell Lacazette. Abraham himself is enticed by the Gunners, right now, it is his first choice in the event of a farewell with Chelsea. [@DiMarzio]

I'm now terrified to open this thread when I see you've posted McD.
