Jack Wilshere

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It's not blind faith, it's a desire to see a player who has come through the club junior and youth system actually establish himself in the Arsenal team like, for example Gerrard did at Liverpool. It's been a long time since we had a player do that at a huge club like The Arsenal. Unfortunately, the last player to come through and establish himself was Ashley Cole back in 2000. Jack should be our Xavi, he is that good. Just hope he doesn't turn out to be a Stewart Robson, great midfielder, career wrecked by injury.
Desire? Doesn't matter how good you want him to be, it doesn't make an iota of difference.

Xavi has been one of the best midfielders Europe has seen - if you think Wilshere can be that good you're beyond deluded
Why can't he be as good as xavi?
Xavi didn't start getting the recognition he deserved until he was 28. Jack went toe to toe with him and matched him. Injuries have stopped him progressing.

I am a fan of wilshere's and I really, really hope that he becomes a star for us, BUT if you think that he can be a "xavi" then you are clearly fooling yourself. Xavi is/was an extremely intelligent footballer who takes the bare minimum of touches but whose movement and on pitch intelligence puts him on a different level to most footballers - we all love jack for his passion, commitment and drive but his game style is nothing like xavi and nor does he have the tools to do the same job as xavi either. It also needs to be said that wilshere's off pitch intelligence and decision making is diabolical - to continually make the big mistakes in public like he has done, is no mean feat and suggests a level of stupidity that will prevent him from ever hitting his true potential :(

Doesn't seemed to have learned anything from his countless injuries. Came on the other night slaloming through the midfield, took a heavy touch, found himself having to lounge at the ball to regain control and got clattered just outside the box. Thankfully he was ok after it, but because he needlessly puts himself in that position multiple times during a game it's only a matter of time before he gets crocked again.

yep, someone needs to have a word with him. How can you play in the exact same style and expect a different outcome?

It's nothing to do with the c.unts - whatever a player does away from the match is nothing to do with the fa c.unts and our club should be telling them that too    :censored: :censored: :censored: :cussing: :cussing:

God forbid that a player actually connects with the fans.

Its one of OUR chants, its part of OUR culture.

Totally over the top reaction from the FA... When the FA in the guise of the England team come knocking this summer, I hope he tells them to fuck off I'm on holiday.

FBI investigate FIFA but don't worry the FA are solving the real problems. The media pushed the agenda over the last few days , bitter little pricks.

Surely they can't do anything about it?

If a footballer is on a night out and does something bad can they charge him? How is this different?

He should refuse to play for England over it.
