Just go Arsene
Morning folks!
Man, I feel almost hung over this morning, and I suspect I’m not the only one.
Received a message from a Man United fan which kind of eased the blow a bit, that I’d like so share, hope thats ok.
“I don’t think Arsenal are the 4th best team, I see them as a bigger threat in the league than Liverpool and Chelsea, last season they were on fire ’til injuries caught up to them, this season they’ve had ALOT of players out for months at a time yet managed 2 semi finals and 4th place in the league, players such as Gallas, Silvestre, Rosicky, Fabregas, Adebayor, Van Persie, Clichy etc… have been out for months at a time. In the league they’ve yet to lose to any of the other “big 3″. Arsenal were always going to go out against us simply ‘cuz I didn’t see them scoring, they looked very good but Ronaldos pace, Gibbs slip and Park being at the right place at the right time, our only two players who went forward, it was desperately unlucky as they had all the possession and crossed the ball dangerously a few times before then, but after that goal they lost all will. Next season I sort of expect Arsenal to win the league and I believe they will.â€

tell me how finishing 4th and reaching the champions leagues and FA cup semis is not getting better?Chippy wrote:Its been a work in progress for 5 yearsand every season it get's worse not better. and ive seen more than one post on here in the past suggesting we buy Steven Taylor or Barton! how ridiculous!
by saying we will get Allardyce, im asking, who will we get? who is available thats better than Wenger?!
Do you not understand that this is a work in progress? most of the current squad are about 21 or a bit older, if this team stay together then they will all reach their prime together, thats the thinking behind this, scrapping half the team and sacking the manager now would be totally pointless!
The point is swale, that players are no longer inclined to stick around are they ? Last summer alone we lost flamini, hleb (no fcuking loss imo:roll: ) and bert and by all accounts wenger wanted them all to stay. In that one summer wenger lost 3 players and only replaced 1 so how are we expected to progress ? Wenger no longer has the hold on his players the way he used to cos players now look at our team/club as being some distance away from being successful again and they want to win. Even if wenger loses 3 players this summer and replaces them with 3 players of similar quality we will still be knocked backwards in the "work in progress" arguement as new players mostly take time to settle in. Quite simply we are far from a work in progress and your arguement dpends far far too much on variables like no departures for it to ever work.
I also wonder why the fans who defend wenger keep saying that he should stay and be given a chance to upgrade this team by bringing in quality players this summer - where has he shown a willingness to do this ? Regardless of whether you are pro wenger or anti wenger we all have to admit that when wenger has a plan he is loyal to it and wont change his thinking for anyone. The problem is though that his plan is no longer working and now he is unwilling to change it and that is costing our club big time. There is no point talking big about what we were going to do last night and then turn in a performance like that
There is no point in today saying how disappointed he is for the fans cos most fans knew that he has assembled an inferior squad but his stubborness has resulted in a failure to upgrade.
Anyway I shouldnt need to keep pointing this out but wenger has fcuked us over badly 3 times in big games in recent weeks. His team selection and tactics/formations in both manc games and against the chavs have killed our season and there is no getting away from that
Yes many players played very badly but it is his job to send the best players onto the pitch in their best positions to maximise our chances of success and clearly he aint done that.
Wenger is/was a great manager and there is no denying that but how long do you give a man whose refusal to change his system that it aint working ? It is his job to bring success to the club and it is not our job to provide a platform or lab for him to bring his youth experiment to pass. If and when he goes he may well prove to be a success all over again but he is no longer doing it at Arsenal, hasnt been doing so for the last 5 seasons and have shown no evidence that he is even on the right track - someone has to draw a line in the sand for him if he refuses to change his ethos

Lets get one thing straight here. No matter how much you want to blame Arsene Wenger for Arsenal being smashed up more than Ricky Hatton you can't.
You can't blame Wenger for Gibbs slipping and you can't blame Wenger for that Portuguese lady boy being able to kick a ball better than anyone in the world of football.
Trust me, it is easy to blame Wenger but think about it. Was it really his fault that Arsenal were destroyed tonight? Not in my opinion. Arsenal did everything we wanted at the beginning of the game. We got into United faces and made the kind of start we desired more than a bar of chocolate. What happened? Lady luck kicked us hard in the bollocks that's what happened. I feel so bad for Gibbs. He was shattered after his slip and he wasn't the only one. The rest of the lads were too. They were killed off completely by the second. Credit must go to Manchester United. I hate them but they deserved to go through over the two legs. I also feel a little for Fletcher. At first I laughed but I suppose that was cruel. Nah, allw that

Garbage! I will admit that the team selection was strange against Chelsea as Arshavin, Nasri and Song should have started, but last week Wenger played a cautious side due to the fact we were playing Man Utd away from home, and last night he played an attacking team which from the first whistle set out to camp in Utd's half, so both team selection and formation were absolutely fine, You cannot blame Wenger for Gibbs slipping over at the vital moment or Almunia making one of his first mistakes of the season a couple of minutes later! thats just the way it goes!augie wrote:The point is swale, that players are no longer inclined to stick around are they ?
