Akpom, Aneke, Afobe, JET

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sanogo will never be needed at our football club. Might as well put the U14's second-string goalkeeper up front for all the fucking good he does.

Obviously not, which is why he was sold.

You seem to have one argument - and it is both boring and moronic.

Harston scored in a European final for us so did his part in trying to secure glory plus he scored pretty important goals for Celtic on their way to the UEFA final so yes it is possible that he could win you European glory

Selling Afobe to Wolves after an outstanding loan run for MK Dons (10 goals in 22 starts) was piss poor IMHO, now after scoring in just around every other game there he looks likely to be playing against us in a few weeks time for Bournemouth after a £12m moove there. Theres a well recognised shortage of strikers, as TOF says, despite NB123s comments I think we messed up badly here. The guy seems far far more deadly that Theo

Couse its a big step up allegedly to the PL, but theres many whove done it easily in recent seasons.

10 goals in 22 starts in League One "outstanding"?

My mate is a Wolves fan and says Afobe is a very good player for them but nowhere near good enough for Arsenal.

We've got enough not-good-enough strikers to play on the wing already

Apparently arsenal will get a cut of the transfer fee if he joins any other club, but can't find any proof of that.

Bit unfair there, the mail room can get very busy. Plus the online shop sales to Asia need to be sorted.

lol, I know you dont like him mate, time will tell. so going on loan for a mere 22 games with no previous league experience and a near 50% goal record- whatever league its in its not to be sniffed at- how would you class it?

I suspect your Wolves mate is saying bye bye rather ungraciously - he has scored just under a third of their goals this season after all

He was never given a chance for us, not even a fecking game, and quite how a fan can honestly say someone is or isnt a PL player is beyond me. I guess your mate had spotted Wrighty or Vardy as PL players and Igalo or Deeney as PL players well before they were

the whole afobe thing goes to show what a run in a team does, the guy is on fire, deemed not good enough here, only because fleeting glimpses being brought on for the last 5 minutes or an odd game in the league cup does nothing for a players confidence.the same can besaid of joel Campbell, monreal etc etc, give them a run and they will show you they could be good enough, watch him slam in a goal against us when we play bmouth next

I'd say that 10 goals in 22 games in League One is a pretty promising return for a 21-year old - although where you are getting "no previous league experience" from I don't know as he'd played 28 League One games and 40 Championship games before he went to MK Dons!

He has impressed at Wolves but let's put things in context here - he's scored 9 goals in 25 Championship games this season. He's a million miles away from proving us wrong for letting him go - if he does that then I will be the first to eat humble pie but honestly how many players have been released by a top club at 21/22 and ended up proving themselves as a CL-level striker?

Vardy has had one great half-season his whole career and if he proves himself capable of maintaining that then he will be just about the only player in the last 2 decades to go from a Football League player to a top PL striker. I don't really buy into not being able to judge Championship players just because Jamie Vardy has scored a few this season.

There is a huge difference between being good enough to be a strker at a PL club and being good enough to be a striker at a top PL club.

We should have had a sell on clause that we will benefit from. Then again, look at the fuck-up with the Ox deal

There's no fucking way that Afobe would have got his chance up front at Arsenal anyway. The likes of Wrighty and Vardy would never make it at TOF's Arsenal of today, sadly. With TOF's penchant for playing strikers on the wing, it would have been pointless keeping him anyway. Afobe would only get in the way of such greats as Gilles Sunu and Amaury Bischoff - Fuck, our youth team is shite. Most of the youth/reserve players we let go are lucky to end up in the Championship, often playing well down the leagues, some pub league abroad, or coming out of football entirely.
