STOKE CITY THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Interesting tidbit...
And so it comes to pass that on the anniversary of Martin Taylor breaking Eduardo’s leg, Arsenal face Stoke City for the first time since Ryan Shawcross broke Aaron Ramsey’s leg. Piling on the coincidence, the referee for today’s game is Peter Walton, yes, the same Peter Walton who refereed the infamous Stoke match last year. And if that weren’t strange enough Arsenal face Birmingham City in the Carling Cup final on the 27th, which is the anniversary of Ryan Shawcross breaking Aaron Ramsey’s leg. Oh, and the referee is the same Mike Dean who was in charge of the match in which Martin Taylor broke Eduardo’s leg.

given the stature of most of our players, it's not like we'd be missing them against the giant neanderthals in the box anyway

Good job Kos and RVP's been dropped then. Fear for Nas, Jack and Cesc.

Inciddently it might be Shawcross's return why there missing tonight. As like with Ade's return Robins the type of player to seak retribution.
Any red card tonight would miss the final.

Just wonder if anyone else will remind Shawcross. Not break his legs but a to stick the boot in? Jack and Cesc have it in them.
Wouldn't mind missing Diaby or Denilson in the 90th at 3-0.

Denilson comes on, 89th min, we winning 5-0, breaks both of Shawcross's legs and gets sent off so we won't see him in the Final

God all this hatred directed towards shawcross. You need to remember that he is the real victim in all of this, as after his careful but unlucky tackle on Ramsey which he was so unfairly red carded for, he left the pitch crying don’t you know don’t you know. This all happened just before his Engerland call up too, so having to deal with all of that mental anguish ahead of playing for the 3 lionz just doesn’t bear thinking about does it. And Tony poolis has said time and time again that “he is not that sort of playerâ€

I saw Frankenstein on Saturday! The opening first 10 minutes was an analogy for how Stoke City FC came to be founded.

Maybe I am alone in not wanting any Stoke players injured tonight...I want them bewildered, humiliated, booed, and running for their bus at full time, but without injuries...When Jack got sent off against Birmingham , McLeish and the hacks tried to compare it to Tiny Taylor's assault on Eduardo..If a Stoke thug gets injured tonight they and the media will have a field day... I hate them as much as anyone but we are Arsenal, we need to win , we don't need controversy leading up to Sunday and we need to put Stoke and their vile game and disgusting supporters in their place.
