Serious question

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

SERIOUS QUESTION.

HOW IS A PUBLICY LISTED FOOTBALL CLUB ANY DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER BUSINESS IS THE WORLD?

WHY IS A FOOTBALL CLUB NOT THERE TO BE EXPLOITED BY THE SHAREHOLDERS FOR PROFITS?

Sorry but that is just flat naive, Babs. Given the historical status of the East and West Stands that never would have happened, it would not have been allowed. These builgs would have ended up either a residential housing or commercial office property in every instance, with the only question being would they have been part of one whole property along with the North Bank and Clock End or broken up into sperate properties. That is about the only possibility to contemplate and given that they would be bought as one property its likely they would be sold as one too.

Dead wrong on this one I'm afraid Babu. Sorry...
I'll start on this one first, if I may, as you said I was wrong!

I didn't mean that they would knock the whole thing down, as I know that wasn't possible, but they could have just kept the facade of the East Stand, as that bit was the only thing that was Grade II listed, and done something hideous with the rest of the land. At least now it still looks like Highbury...sort of.

The West Stand was also listed. I actually was privy to the deal to finance it and saw the plans.

If he didn't like it he could have walked, but he didn't. He accepted it, and went with it. Wenger is just as much to blame in the direction the Club has gone. We can't change it, we can only hope that Kroenke sees the problem and makes money available.

I just don't understand the argument any more. Really I don't.

The Board were c**ts. FACT!
The Board sold up. FACT!
The Board lied. FACT!

Wenger was there, sitting on the right hand side. FACT!

Or is there something else that I have missed? The 'Board' is gone. Fiszman, Lady BS, DD, all of them. They've gone.
Agree with a lot there, but there are two critical points

1) Agree on Mr. Wenger taking a share of the blame. But if you are paid millions by your employer where are you going to go in that instance? The real issue is would he have done the same things the same way if the Board hadn't acted as it did from 2005 forward?

2) No they are not gone. Mr Fiszman and Lady Bracewell-Smith are gone, one by choice, the other unavoidably so. As for David Dein he would probably return at the drop off a hat. But Peter Hill-Wood is still there as are the other Board members of recent years, so the idea that the Board is gone is a mistake, especially since Tsan Kroenke gave his approval to everything the Board did from 2008-now as a member of that same Board

1/a)Wenger could have gone anywhere. Real Madrid, for one.
1/b) I believe he would have done, as he wanted to 'prove' that his 'project' would work.

2) They're all gone, even PHW is just a token now.

The Arsenal now is Wenger and Kroenke. Let's see what happens. I believe that we will spend big this summer, as I just for the life of me can't imagine that those two people don't realise that it's vitally important, and a PLC just has to make money - and that won't be done just by raking in the £3m match-day cash, it has to be done by investing in the team, otherwise the £3m will slowly disintegrate.

Of course they could just sell the highest earners ( cesc, nasri ) and bring in some french/african make-weights, and hope the luck doesn't run out, but that would be foolish, wouldn't it?!?

What a thoroughly well thought out post from Babu. Put his thoughts across and honestly sounded like he believed what he was saying because it meant something to him as a Gooner.

Then US martian.
What a load of agenda driven, schoolboy, nonsensical, bullshitting fucking waffle.
Not one word you say makes sense and i for one cant even respect you for saying it because it's not said for the love of The Arsenal,it's your own selfish agenda.

THE BOARD ARE NOT EVEN THE BOARD ANYMORE!!

Tsan Kroenke as you call him(fuck me,you even punctuate your spelling mistakes!!) cannot be judged for his boardroom skills until he's had a summer on his own to be judged by.

Your beloved Wenger however???

give it up US fraud

I stand corrected. 8)

Of course they could still have kept the East and West Stand and built a waste disposal plant in the middle.

If the 'they' were evil and very rich spuds, for example.

In a nutshell Babbitt, you're right, the board are using the club for personal gain and lying about it, yet you can't prove it and if you could it's not illegal, it's business, you're thousands of miles away and no one on here either believes you or due to your delivery would rather slice off their own genitalia than "follow" you.

What do you do?

Of course USM, who else can continue in the Charlie Babbitt style in RainMan, who's on first base etc...

It's like a scratched record but with no obvious future purpose.

Even if he is 100% correct what's the purpose?

Maybe a little OCD/obsession/autistic tendency on display?

Of course because you don't give a fuck except to complain about the consequences and blame someone else for them. You'd make a good George W Bush voter.

I'd rather be retarded or autistic even as you make sport of such people than someone who knew they were nbneing lied to trusted those lasirs anyway and is only mad as hell at the result just now.
