Herd I have spent loads of time in both the Hispanic and English speaking communities of NY and I've heard Nueva York, Noo Yawk, Nuevo Yawk, but never Neuvo Yorkie.

Did someone say Bensonhurst?! I live in Bensonhurst (although it's actually pronounced "Bensonhoist"). Do you have any experience of this part of the world?

And given that B'hurst is now predominantly Russian, as opposed to Italian, I've never heard "Neuvo Yorkie" in the 18 months that I've lived here!

Ive lived in NYC for a total of 4 years in my life .
Usd to play football on the Leif Eriksson field in bay ridge 65th st just down the road from Bensonhurst . In the early 80's Bensonhurst was an old Italian district where to Old mama's lived and the poorer Italians.
There were a lot of Italian working mens club type things that did great Sunday dinners at that time.
The Russians where in Sheepshead bay at that time but I do know they have spread out .
I thought u lived in Red Hook ?
