i can play.. to poor to have a decent guitar. I have a fender strat and a spanish classical i obtained from an ex many years ago. has a few dents and two extra holes in the back with stickers over them, but i love that guitar

I don't even know what type of acoustic guitar to buy, something cheap for beginners...

I started about 18 months ago and pm'd DB10 for some advice he told me not to get the £40 acoustics out of Argos as they have a shit sound and youll get so frustrated youll give up so i went to my local music shop and asked their advice ended up getting one for around £80 - £90 wich is really nice for a beginer

They suggest you play for 30 minutes 4-5 times a week no more, keep it short and enjoyable. I try to play the guitar as much as i can but with my small children its not always easy. i now know a few chords and can play parts of lots of songs and 2 songs complete so its far more than i knew 18 months ago and really enjoy it

Ooops Thinking out loud there I used to work in WH Smiths when I was at school on the weekends, and one night before Christmas I was working overtime through the night with a load of other part timers, this girl was talking to me about how she is a vegetarian and I was bored as fuck and she was a dog. I meant to say 'so how long have you been a vegetarian' but instead I said 'how long have you been a virgin' She left sharpish

That does sound good, I might go and try find a guitar on the weekend. I've always wanted to learn to play the accordion too for some reason

Have PM'd you mate....re: both ...and for the record No, I am NOT shit (at playing guitar) when it comes to 'serious' DIY around the house like plastering and tiling bathrooms yes I admit it I'm useless..., just feckin' No Whaaay jose!..but I'm okay on guitar also play flute/keyboards/ mandolin and various percussion.

I've just been learning some new songs (on guitar etc) and one of them is 'Dust In The Wind' by Kansas....pretty basic made up of 4 chords - though the picking took a while to get....for me it is a beautifuk song to play/sing etc....and it got me wondering about other songs I wish I'd written (purely for the aesthetic rather than the dosh from copyrights etc)Are there any songs or pieces of music you've learnt or heard that you really wish you had written.....

Learning Flamenco at the moment which is a challenge (short buleria is where I'm up to at the moment).
