But don't worry won't be going much more over this at this rate. I'll stick to where I know best.

Is that a problem? He/she has an opinion which we're all entitled to regardless of quantity of contribution.Rosie_titters wrote:Chippy wrote:I have pm ed you.YellowRibbon wrote:Mucked up with the quoting on last posts.

Re: THE FORUM AS IT IS NOW
kind of like the new forum, to be honest
there's always going to be a few teething problems at the start, but the whole asterixing out of swear words like fuck, shit and *word censored* (hope that worked, or a warning is heading my way
) is fine by me.
In any case, this place won't become too sanitised and dull because the mods are just like the rest of us, and want a decent forum to post on... so fear not. The future is bright, the future is gooner2gooner.
(still think the name sounds a bit camp though
)

He certainly does, but when it comes with a list of comments comparing what's going on here with what happens at the stadium then it's ill-informed nonsense.

I think this forum can be just as fun as it used to be with the new rules etc. Swearing banned or not shouldnt stop people having a laugh and chatting about football. The abuse is quite rightly going to be cut out but there is no need for the place to be sanitised and while the old members continue to post in there usual style then it will stay the sameg88ner wrote:kind of like the new forum, to be honest![]()

Yes he/she is very much entitled to an opinion and this is exactly the right place to air it but for me it is the manner in which it is aired that I take issue with. His sweeping statement disregarding the opinions and credentials of people on here seems a bit juvenile to me and now rather than hang around here, get to know people more and adding something positive to the forum he has decided to cut and run and head back to the herd forum - you can't change anything when you are the outside looking in mate
Re: THE FORUM AS IT IS NOW
I find it hilarious, although also a little depressing, how much some people need to complain. It doesn't matter what it's about - they just need to whine about something.
What also makes me chuckle is the people who come on here and take the piss out of the bloke who pays the bills to keep the bloody place open by comparing this to some propaganda machine where your posts will get deleted if you so much as voice an opinion which is to the disliking of the powers that be. All the while, these people are laughably blind to the fact that the platform they're using to complain about their human rights being infringed upon, is the very same place they're saying they can't voice their opinions for fear of getting censored. You'd have to be some kind of comedy genius to make this stuff up.
For what it's worth, I hope the ban on swearing does get overturned/reviewed, mainly because I don't see how my favourite poster (Number 5) can continue to contribute without swearing! That said, I'm not going to start behaving like Kevin out of The Fast Show and slagging off Mike if he doesn't end up changing it.
He is the one who pays the bills. If something is written on here which lands the forum in hot water (it's happened before), then he is the one who is responsible for it. Therefore, if he decides to ban swearing, change the banner colour to pink or make it so that only his opinions can be expressed, then that is totally at his discretion. This sense of entitlement that some people on here have got is sickening. This is an Internet forum, for crying out loud. Not a democratic nation. It's not that big of a deal. If he decides something isn't worth the hassle, then that's up to him.
While I can understand the frustration of some posters (again, I hope the swearing ban is overturned), the way some of you are carrying on puts me in mind of children who have been told they can't play any more Xbox this evening because they've got to do their homework. It's still early days for this forum. Give it, and give Mike some flipping time to work out how everything is going to be on here before you all give yourselves aneurysms.
We are all Gooners. Remember that. We all want this to be a place we can be proud of - Mike included. I'm sure that, given a little time for everything to settle, it will be a place we can all be proud of. I think you forget that, just as you have to get used to the new rules, so do the mods. Therefore - have a little patience and we'll get there.

Re: THE FORUM AS IT IS NOW
I never understood why people felt they had to swear in the first place.
Just my opinion and a bit of cod psychology, but I think of swearing as a very much a heat of the moment thing connected to speaking, but writing is more connected to giving things a bit of thought before communicating the thought to others?
But the main thing has to be that the club can be criticised in any way possible, should people feel they want to do so, unlike the official forum.

Re: THE FORUM AS IT IS NOW
Good post TS. I agree that this attitude of "the world owes me" is a bit lame. The owners can do what they like. End of. Either adapt or move on.
Personally I'm really struggling with the new forum tbh. It seems VERY sterile at the moment and I'm hoping that is just teething problems and we'll get back to the atmos of the old forum soon. But I'm Oirish. I'm a Dub. We swear. Alot. It's not an aggressive or insulting thing, it's just a part of our speech. Those words are the only decent thing you murdering Anglo-Saxon rapists left us!
I hope Mike will reconsider the sweeping swearing ban and reduce it to only swearing in a personally abusive manner that is banned, but general swearing can be let in.
I would also say to my fellow mods that we need to be sensible and not over-mod the place. I know Mike has asked us to be a bit stricter and has set us new guidelines but I still think there is enough scope for us to use a bit of common sense.
