I completely agree Bren. The Banks were allowed to get away with ridiculous stuff. Personally I work in Business Banking and I've never had a silly bonus. I still earn good money, but it's a pretty challenging job to be a bank manager to businesses. I also dont buy into the "well they'll go work elsewhere" argument. Banks in the US are outright refusing to pay the bonuses until there is real growth. Something which should happen in this country.
And tax dodgers like Fred Goodwin need to be held to account.
The recent budget just proved that the rich are the priority. And this is whats wrong with all the current political parties. They're run by men who have zero life experience apart from being born with the silver spoon in the mouth, sent to oxbridge and then straight into a political party on the back of daddies contacts.
I think its disgusting that cuts are being made for the lowest income jobs and families while these mass corporations and banks get away with huge tax evasion and paying huge bonuses during a crisis which they created.
I'll be voting for the lesser of the two evils for mayor. And it wont be for Boris.
The firm i work for were never bailed out but I'm not stupid enough to ignore the fact that QE helped us. Some of the guys that work in Banks are absolutely useless. And I mean useless. So there are plenty of non-jobs in Banks. 
Top Bankers should be taxed at a super-tax level. It is a fine line between over-taxing and causing firms to move country, but I can't see that really happening. London is too centric with regard to time-differences and the location pretty much in the centre of the Western world. The top brass of Banks are effectively earning money for old rope. It's like paying the dealer at the casino stupid money? They don't take any real risks. The risk takers are the individuals betting against the house. In regards to targetting the common man. The simple fact is that taxing a couple of thousand bankers (that is the amount of bankers on multi-millions) is not going to pay for the deficit. You forget that everyone who owns a house has used the Banks to earn much of the equity in their houses. That has set people up for life. You can't have it both ways. The endless spending has to stop some time. Some of us will be taxed more than others (the deductiions in my take home pay are a joke 
), but it needs to happen. Not all the rich people in this country work for banks or inherited it. Why clobber hard-working people who bettered themselves to pay for a ferral under-class that want to sit on benefits their whole lives????Joke party. An independent UK would be fucked. They don't take personal risks. I.e they get paid even if things go tits up for the Bank. They risked the Bank's and the UK's future and still got paid big money for it. The reality is they oversaw far bigger risks being taken than they even knew
but still got paid for their failure
