Goodbye Sagna

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sagna was offered a one year deal initially.
But this was changed to a two or three year deal, at about £20,000 - £40,000 per week less than City, depending which paper you read.
You are right OG.But what does that say about how the club valued him in the first place. When he has seen the likes of Bender Diaby Rosicknote Jenkinson get 2-4 year contracts. As soon as Bacary went into the last year of his contact the club knew he was leaving so offered him 3 years.I wouldnt trust Wenger and Gazidis as far as i could throw them

I seriously worry what sort of education they're getting at Arsenal. None of them seem to think there's anything wrong with playing for Citeh, Chavs or ManUre. Hell, we're lucky Sp*rs are shite, because I doubt they'd think twice about signing for them either! :?
I will tell you what sort of education they are getting. Its we have a manager who only wants to finish 4th.We buy players from the 2nd tier. When we need to buy a striker we spunk £42m on Ozil. When we need to strengthen in Jan when we were top of the league we buy a guy with a broken back.Anyone who thinks Ramsey will still be at the club in 3 years dream on.If anyone our present squad want to win a Premiership they are going to have to do it away from Arsenal

Nasri Clichy RVP Cesc and Sagna like it or not joined clubs who have ambition. And it will continue to happen under Wenger Gazidis and Kroenke

I'm fine with Sagna going; hate to sound callous but onwards and upwards.

All well and good if we get someone of better quality or equal.

The chances if that are........ :rubchin:

Otherwise its another step backwards when we should be moving FORWARD !

Agree with all three posts. He's been a great servant for us and imo still good enough for another season at RB despite attacking limitations. But if City are offering a silly 3-year deal then that's fine by me, have no wish to see us match it.

British/Irish players are notoriously overhyped but for me Seamus Coleman is the real deal. Well worth the £15-20m outlay to have the RB position filled with a quality player for best part of a decade.

Irish players over-hyped ?? We get no hype at all (and rightfully so) so reduce that if you can

It was either say that or refer to him as British

Although I think McArthur and previously McClean at Sunderland also overrated

Oh yea, Sagna. The overrated Arsenal RB who couldnt cross for toffee and left us to join a rival.
Yea, bye.
Of all the first team players who have left us over the past few years, hes gotta be the one I couldnt give a fiddlers about.

Always gave 100% while with us but choosing to sit on the bench for the majority of his remaining seasons while trouser ing a huge wedge has taken the shine of his arsenal career for me
