Missus is over so I'm going to pretend that I'm desperate to watch this game and am making a huge sacrifice if I don't do so. Little victories.

Open All Hours or One Foot In The Grave ?

Or Sky Sports showing a team with one foot in the grave with a defence that's open all hours?

Bloody repeats

The ultimate clash of mediocrity. One side that was marginally better than the Belgium and Turkish champions, and the other side, not even good enough to qualify for the Europa league, oh the excitement

The CL is the pinnacle of european club football, the tournament where the best players in the world show their talent.
:barscarf: :barscarf: There's only one Ainsley Maitland-Niles :barscarf: :barscarf:
This is what we gave up cosy little Highbury for, this is the reason we accept the highest priced tickets in world football.
I am sure Wenger, in his own mind, will have proved all his critics wrong when we grind out a drab 1-0 win against a bunch of also rans.

I find it ironic that we actually did better in the CL at Highbury and then just after the Bowl was built when funds were supposedly tighter...

I can see us winning this 2-0

I'm disappointed to hear that you won't be pulling your pud furiously - this is what we spend all season praying we finish fourth for man !

Won't we be seeing Rodda's Custard tonight if we win ?

not ironic at all - 22,500 loyal long term ST holders, narrow pitch, crowd in the oppos faces = big atmosphere.

European nights at Highbury were special - same as Anfield or Goodison, grounds dominated by their loyal support in midweek when the tourists were at work and the JCL's watching corrie. for the quarters and semis the ground would fill early, old flags would come out, old songs would be sung, past victories celebrated and the team roared on to new ones.

i can't be the only one to remember turning up for work or college with a sore throat the morning after a big European Night win or lose.

it guts me that in 2017 Anfield will be 59,500 - just 500+ seats less than our beloved Home.

we could of easily put another tier on the Clockend and re developed the West Stand to make it three tiers, that would of given us 55,000+ easily.

but noooo, mr 30 years had his vision :banghead: :censored: :cussing:

The club first tried to expand Highbury by proposing building in the corner sections, the limit would have been 45,000.

The East and West Stands were listed structures but I always wondered why we did not build more on the Clock End, guess there were structural reasons?

PSG play in a stadium of 49,000, Juventus in a stadium of 41,000, Chelsea in a stadium of 42,000, Spoting Lisbon and Porto in a stadium of 50,000, Monaco in a stadium of 19,000. City and Roma's expansion and new stadium respectively will still be well below the size of the bowl (53,000-55,000 I think).

The idea that you need a massive stadium to compete in Europe is a canard. You need owners willing to invest in a deep squad with quality throughout all 25 players, not a small smattering of quality.

You need to get out more mate (obviously not while taking huge amounts of laxatives though)
Well, no.... that would be the best time for him to go out. Think of the youtube videos of rodders going through explosive decompression in a supermarket, for example. :D 8)
Better still just before he goes on one of the Protest Marches - He could make his own Jackson Pollock style banner as he goes along!
