Warm/cool, cloudy/sunny, rain/dry. Pretty much every kind of weather except snow ffs!![]()

Todays top tip:- More of an observation/moan really. My right knee has been playing up for a while, getting painful at around the 5-6mile point. I've just been sucking it up really and getting on with it.
But last saturday I took my 7year old and his mates out and did a few sprints. 50 - 100 mtrs. (They were on their bikes, the little feckers!). Ever since my knee has been quite painful and now my right ankle has started going the same way.
Dont really want to stop running to see if it recovers as I've built up somewhat of a routine/momentum. Mentally and physically (apart from my knee and ankle) I can handle the runs pretty well. I feel that if I stop for any amount of time, a few weeks maybe, I may find it very difficult to get motivated/going again.
So although having a break may benefit me physically. Mentally it could be a problem.
Sooooooooo I might have to reduce the distances and take things slower for a while. Not ideal but somewhat of a compromise.....

Mate, if you have actually damaged the cartilage or frayed the outside threads of your ACL or medial ligament you will only do more damage by running, even by reducing distance, intensity, etc. The only thing (if the knee doesn't actually need surgery) that will heal it is rest, and then slow physio type work to build it up again.armchair wrote:7 miles..........59min 50sec
Warm, sunny, no rain. Quite nice
Average 8.55min/mile
Left it a week to see if my dodgy knee and ankle would benefit from the layoff. I loaded up on pain killers but after less than a mile I thought I'd have to give up cause my knee started getting quite sore. I stuck it out and completed the distance. Still sore but not too bad. Just have to take it easy.
This is what Im afraid of. If I do have to have an extended rest then I doubt very much I'll find the motivation to pick it up again.DB10GOONER wrote:Mate, if you have actually damaged the cartilage or frayed the outside threads of your ACL or medial ligament you will only do more damage by running, even by reducing distance, intensity, etc. The only thing (if the knee doesn't actually need surgery) that will heal it is rest, and then slow physio type work to build it up again.armchair wrote:7 miles..........59min 50sec
