Other teams & games

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sky dont need much encouragement to hype things up and often contrive fixtures just so they can do just, Remember their 'Grand Slam Sunday' nonsense  !

And Liverpool v Man United has this kind of ''clash of the titans'' reputation despite the fact that one of the sides is usually very ordinary and showing signs of desperation in an effort to get back to the top. At the moment, maybe they are both doing this?

What often seems to get overlooked is that Liverpool haven't won the title for 26 years. And when they last won it - Man United hadn't won the title for 23 years.

It is 50 years since they were both winning titles in the same decade. 50 years!

Far better games have been Liverpool v Everton in the mid 80s and our own clashes with Liverpool a few years later. Then of course Arsenal v Man United in Wengers early years.

The north v south thing possibly has more appeal than some rivalry between two industrial cities in the north that most of us couldn't give a fuck about! They're both shitholes as far as I'm concerned and have both produced not much that appeals to me. Their music is some of the most overrated music in history.

And neither Liverpool or Man United or even both of them combined had the class that Arsenal once had.

Liverpool FC were a nothing sort of a club until the late 1950s. Up until then Everton FC were really the biggest club on Merseyside. Then they appointed Bill Shankly who set them up for the success of the 1970s and 80s. Since then they have been a club looking back on past glories (which is a warning to Arsenal btw) apart from fluking a Champions League win in 2005. I am sick of the hype surrounding them. I think they have a high media profile because a lot of ex Liverpool players were given jobs on the back of Liverpool's 70s/80s success.

I hope it's another dire 0-0 at the Bridge on Saturday. Would laugh hysterically.

City lost 4-0 but the quote of the night goes to Niall Quinn on Sky....Barca lost Pique and Alba to injury in the first half...start of second half Niall comments. "I'm beginning to think this Barca defence looks makeshift" fucking genius Niall..

Always knew Man City were living in a state of delusion.

They need to get with it, their rivals are us, United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.

They actually really believed they had evolved and their PL rivals became insignificant, and that their true rivals are Barcelona, Bayern and Real Madrid.

So if you make a reckless tackle from behind with no hope of winning the ball it is now a red card....So why was Lamella not be sent off there....?
